Default Can we talk about the set list?

Leaving all the D'Arcy stuff aside, what sort of set list are people expecting? Billy has said that they can do three hour shows with JC. I fully expect to hear all the hits from the era, as well as lots of SD / MCIS but not much post-2007 music (the fact Zeitgeist is gone from iTunes / Spotify suggests it won't be represented at all).

So all that plus whatever this new song is, and I expect there'll be an acoustic segment with a string section accompanying the band.

I would say we'll get something like this (not in this order of course, though it would be fun to group them in eras):

1. Rhinoceros
2. I Am One
3. Siva
4. Drown
5. Daydream (feat D’Arcy)
6. Starla
7. Cherub Rock
8. Today
9. Rocket
10. Hummer
11. Soma
12. Disarm
13. Silverfook
14. Mayonnaise (acoustic)
15. Tonight Tonight
16. Zero
17. Porcelina
18. 1979
19. Muzzle
20. Take Me Down (acoustic)
21. Bodies
22. Ava Adore
23. Perfect
24. To Sheila (acoustic)
25. Stand Inside Your Love
26. The Everlasting Gaze
27. Tarantula
28. Being Beige
29. One And All
30. Whatever the new song is going to be called
31. The Last Song

Anything else? Gossamer might be there. Was also thinking about Starla, Muzzle, and Soma might switch in for Hummer. Silverfook might also be dropped in favour either something like Here Is No Why, but it'd also be cool to have something like Dross or Cash Car Star.

Not expecting anything cause I'm not going to another half empty arena show to aggrandize Billy's ego.

which manson tour gig were you at?

the one I was at was puh, not half empty, but far from full, bit of a mass exodus as well but not quite as bad as some others from what I saw online.

Houston show. Half the crowd left after 1979. It was a really lukewarm performance overall granted they were having some pretty bad sound issues.

SP is a band that should be playing House of Blues size venues at this point. The stature of the band in the public consciousness is no better than that of say a Collective Soul or Live, et al.

It's actually kind of painful seeing these songs destroyed live by a maniac frontman

Jim's gonna kill it on drums ofc. Probably the only good thing to come out of this

The latest JCC album was not good. A shame because the first one was easily one of the best post-SP solo releases, maybe even the best.

THAT would be awesome. Especially since it seems it's going to be a hits-oriented show with a lot of visuals (similar to the recent GNR tour), an acoustic set in the middle would give them a chance to switch up the setlist a little bit (have a section where there doesn't need to be a matching video section / light show/etc.) Basically, if it was going to be a 2.5 hour show, do two hour-long hit-fueled rock sets, with an "In Plainsong" style set in the middle.

Obviously, it seems that it would be centered around Siamese Dream and MCIS, with a little bit of the other albums (one or two songs each). Maybe a solo song from both Billy (an Ogilala song) and James (I'd LOVE to have them play "Speed of Love").

Because why not:

1. I Am One
2. Cherub Rock
3. Ava Adore
4. Bullet With Butterfly Wings
5. Muzzle
6. Disarm
7. Siva
8. The Everlasting Gaze
9. Geek USA
10. Hummer

==ACOUSTIC SET==
11. To Sheila / Perfect (alt)
12. Mayonaise
13. Soma / Luna (alt)
14. Thirty Three / Stumbeline (alt)
15. Daydream
16. Whir / Landslide (alt)
17. Take Me Down
==

18. Rocket
19. Zero
20. Stand Inside Your Love
21. Let Me Give The World To You
22. Drown
23. 1979
24. Untitled
25. Through The Eyes of Ruby

==ENCORE==
26. Today
27. Tonight Tonight
28. Silverfuck

You guys are forgetting the obligatory half-hearted classic rock cover.

Probably something like Free Fallin'.

Paranoid, on the other hand, was fucking amazing. Bummer they didn't go in that direction and didn't even release it on the album. Best shit since Life Begins Again.

it's going to be very safe and stripped down. no strings. keep in mind billy is allegedly in the hole because of wrestling. so i doubt a string quartet is coming out for an arena tour. definitely most / if not all the singles and yeah, some of the classic 'epics,' probably including soma and mayo due to james being there. they did geek in 2015, and given the 25th anniversary of sd i imagine it'll lean towards that. but there are definitely not any shows before july... james is on tour with apc until then

This whole dog-and-pony show is because he got backers. Live Nation, etc. Hence the banners in Times Square. That marketing budget ain't coming from Billy. No, he went to the pyramid of dark money and said, I will do whatever you ask, make me famous and young again.

If he’s smart he’ll skip the inevitable 17 minute reimagined cover of Bowie or Depeche Mode or whatever

Saying the recent JCC record wasn't good because you prefer soft pop rock to jazzier stuff is ignorant. Also, the first setlist is a dud. Straight 1999 wishfulness.

I would assume he's talking about anything they made with the original band.

But, you know, Billy is trying to do well, so we'll probably get a Greatest Hits tour, with a few b-sides here and there.

I am One
Siva
Rhinoceros
Today
Cherub Rock
Mayo
Disarm
Tonite
BWBW
Zero
1979
Ava Adore
Perfect
Everlasting Gaze
SIYL

Good chances for:
Rocket
Geek Usa
Drown
Starla
Untitled
Hummer
33
Muzzle
Landslide
TEITBITE
Daydream
Real Love
LMGTWTY

I also feel Billy will try to get James to sing one of his songs, just to prove him he's a nice guy now. He loved One and Two so much he included that one on the reissue, so I think he'll pick that one. I wouldn't complain if they played Go. I love that song.
