are so fucking painful to watch. Always with the personal attacks, media are failing, journalists are fake, he often doesn't even address the question, he just behaves like a school yard bully. I'm just wondering, isn't this a little bit cringe worthy even for his fanbase? The people that will vote on him no matter what he does, wouldn't even they feel a tiny bit ashamed? Anyone know of Trump voters who can be honest about this?

I cannot watch more than a few seconds of him speaking but I'll read the quotes from trusted news sources.

I've noticed some people who voted for him the first time are now saying he's an idiot, he says stupid things and he talks too much. Some were saying that last year or the year before. Many of these same people are still so stupid and blind that they will vote for him a second time. They refuse to vote for anything but the GOP even when it is not in their best interests. I would like to meet some of these people who voted for him in 2016 but refuse to vote for him in 2020. I know they exist but I have not run into many personally. The Libertarian (Republicans who smoke pot) or Independent candidates may get a few more votes from these people than they did in 2016. Yay

Edit: Number of COVID-19 briefings from trump I've watched? Zero. Many of the state governors' briefings are what to focus on.

yeah i think generally they don't like the divisiveness and meanness and bullying. but they do like the thinly veiled racism and anti-immigrant and "pro-manufacturing" stuff.

it's understandable because a lot of these old fuckers in the rust belt have watched, in their lifetime, their towns and cities just totally fall apart--buildings literally crumbling, population moves out, drugs move in, local organizations disappear, money just leaves. meanwhile the "America" they see on TV has gotten more urban and less white, and they associate the decline of their community with those demographic changes. so they're susceptible to a "make America great again" message.

usually when i talk to them i tell them i think trump is a con-man new york millionaire who isn't actually pro-manufacturing or pro-rust belt, and is just using "us" to funnel him and his cronies billions of dollars. idk if it works, but it's the best piece of rhetoric i've been able to come up with.
