although we talked about this a few months ago, i just want to say i hope NONE of my videos end up on their myspace.

something about the actually band using fan based material really turns me off. Like all this art work. yuck-

Why? I think it's a cool way to get the message across to others that there ARE people that are hyped about this and still care.

I think it is a good way for the band to advertise themselves via fans, very clever.

I like the Lily video except for the pumpkin which appears throughout - very blatant

Yeah I don't like this fan based art crap either. I don't mind it too much now even though it's going a little bit overboard but if any of it shows up on the album booklet or cover I'm going to be fucking pissed.

Hmm, some of the fan art is amazing, some not so good. It is to give you the impression of helping the band kids

Exactly it's just yet another ploy by Corgan to make people think they are helping SP further their cause when in actuality they need no help and SP is just trying to lure new people in.

The new background gets the thumbs up.

I am only cynical of the SP thing because of having worked for promotions companies for years now, and listening to marketing people gettign fans to "build fan sites" "make art" etc just to get attention as far afield as possible without the band actually having to do anything.

Just think - one person who gets their stuff shown is goign to speak to a few people about it, and others are going to want the same - it builds up a good base of discussion.

Anyway, I don't dislike what has happened so far, it can be healthy (Such as the relationship the Dresden Dolls have with their fans) but can ultimately end in failure and self parody (the dresden dolls brigade is a joke now)

i think the band spotting fan art, is extremely distasteful.

They are an artist, and should be putting out their own official artistic work

Also my work is highly unlikely going to be on the myspace due to me disabling to Embed the work.

what a shame, they are masterpieces of drama =)

People who work only towards SP I think instead of as a diversion from their main body of work seem a bit pointless to me, although it is nice to get the exposure =)

that would be horrible. Some faux modern victorian art thing we've been seeing on american eagle t shirts for the past year with smashing pumpkins written in script inside an american flag. I can see it now.
