Default I like This Is a Long Drive as much as The Lonesome Crowded West

I literally cannot decide which one I like more. Though I suppose sometimes it depends what mood I'm in, or if I'm burned out from listening to them too much.

The Lonesome Crowded West probably is the better album but I just feel like I emotionally connect with This is a Long Drive just as much or even more so at times.

I love both but prefer Long Drive.

Is it 1997 again?

lonesome crowded west always sounded like a new & improved long drive to me, with building something out of nothing being my favorite release of there's in general so there you are

Building Nothing Out of Something is pretty much just outtakes from the first two albums.

Building Nothing is the first of their CDs i got (it was the most affordable at HMV in 2000)... loved it to death

i think the two albums both have their ups and downs. i too like Long Drive just as much if not more.

throw me in the moon and antarctica camp, but LCW is definitely great. Long Drive has the sound but not the songs. It has its purpose.

I can't believe how bad their new album is

i like all of their stuff to varying degree but I could live happily in a world where MM made LCW and disbanded.

Naw man, Moon is pretty great too...it's essential Modest Mouse.

To me, Good News is their weakest. It feels very unfocused and those short interludes are unnecessary but it does have good songs. We Were Dead was a little too poppy but still a good album.

>I can't believe how bad their new album is
Strangers has some weak ass songs like Wicked Campaign, Be Brave and Of Course We Know but it sounds like their still evolving and changing while keeping the classic sound and I like that.

well i was listening to them before moon & antarctica was out and i don't live in the states. sure, none of my friends knew them but anyone interested in indie/emo had heard of them.
once again, you're talking unknowingly about an era when you were just a kid

i was exaggerating obviously but i don't think it's disputable that an indie band doing well a major label is going to see their fanbase multiply substantially, i coulda been born in 2000 and still seen this

i just wouldn't feel comfortable telling a Gen-Xer that nirvana had a 1k fanbase in 1990 since nevermind had not come out.
The Gen-Xer was conscious of what was trending back then whereas i had no clue.
