Sausage Party - Stupid, dumb. Not even in a good way. I laughed quietly twice. 3/10

Twilight Zone: The Movie - First two segments are duds, but the final two more than make up for them. 7/10

Alright I went and saw Wonder Woman and I guess I'm a bit disappointed considering the ratings were so good

the latest DC films have been such garbage that just a decent film looks great maybe

At the same time I did enjoy it and Wonder Woman was badass and gorgeous

Plot was alright and had a couple good twists

But some shit was dumb like you're telling me she knows 100 human languages but never learned about marriage

And too many scenes of her blocking bullets with the metal wrist things

The long special effects battle at the end you know she won't lose being just kinda boring

The romantic interest having shit dialogue and no chemistry other than their both stupidly attractive

Guy that doesn't generally like movies all that much decides to check one out.

He chooses Wonder Woman.

Oh also the chemist Dr. Poison was a really interesting and actually frightening female villain and had a super cool look but then in this film with a female lead hero they reduce her to being subservient to some run of the mill Nazi doofus

I wanted her to poison that guy horrifically SO BAD

The thing that bothered me about her knowledge of languages is that some of those languages surely developed while her people were isolated on that island. Shouldn't she only know archaic forms of modern languages, at best?

In the comics, they just explain her ability to speak pretty much any language with magic (from some medallion given by Hermes, IIRC). At least with magic, you don't have to explain shit.

I think it's the more serious sci-fi tone of the DC Universe that makes it harder to pass cheese by

Where as Marvel films generally really embrace humor

I'm no chemist, but I'm pretty sure the "we made mustard gas deadlier by replacing he sulphur with hydrogen" thing made no sense.

Like, hydrogen only has one valence electron (or zero, if it's just a bare proton), so it only really bonds with one other atom at a time... I think sulphur kind of holds a bunch of the other atoms together in mustard gas.

And, like, why would having hydrogen (which mustard gas already has in it) make it seep through gas masks? Gas masks work by reacting with dangerous, reactive substances before they reach your body. If the substance is inert enough to pass through... it's probably inert enough to not have much effect in your body.

Real-life mustard gas already cannot be fully protected against by gas masks. Because even though the mask will prevent it from entering your lungs, it won't do anything to prevent it from contacting the rest of your body, which will suffer chemical burns. Mustard gas can seep through clothing.

But actually who cares. The image of the goggles of the gas mask shattering under the gas was cool as fuck, even if it made no sense.

I mean, the first film of this franchise had somebody advise people to take refuge underneath an overpass during a tornado.

So, he could be like, "STOP, MY INVINCIBLE SON. I GOT THIS."

I loved the WWI setting and really enjoyed the color it added.

I could've done without the action scenes -- it's just quick cuts and explosions and shit. Do people actually enjoy that stuff? The dialogue about man's nature and war was interesting but it was spliced with a woman picking up a tank. Fights with supernatural weapons just seem lame. Like, if she has some truth lasso thing, why doesn't she also have a magic shield to protect from bullets? It's all so arbitrary

David Thewlis was killer

I'm halfway through Titanic now. It's so good. Last time I watched I was 8 and had to sit next to my mom during the 'french girls' scene

Turn of the century aesthetic + sailing aesthetic is fucking awesome

Titanic has really phenomenal special effects. The whole third act is fantastic. But god that main plot between Leo and Kate is just insufferable and sinks the whole thing.

AJ can stand for either Alejandro Jodorowsky or Agustus Jupes. Lol.

Goddamn that Dune would of been tight. Someone really needs to make an animation of it.

AJ can also stand for the Backstreet boy the one who wears shades and earings and a trim goatee and black wife beater.

You guys know my boy AJ right?

Yeah they decided on hydrogen with the final scenes already in mind I assume

But... she does have a shield in the movie...?

I don't really get the point here, though. She has a magic lasso because she has a magic lasso (or, more specifically, because Hephaestus forged it from Gaea's golden girdle and gifted it to the Amazons). I don't see how that's any more or less arbitrary than any other narrative decisions about what objects a character may possess. You may as well ask why she doesn't have a magic motorcycle, or a magic tiger sidekick, or a magic water jug that never runs out, or an orange sweater... because she just doesn't?

Just got back from seeing Baby Driver. Wow. A summer movie that hits all the right spots and isn't based on a pre-existing property. I was impressed and thoroughly entertained. 9/10

Ah, well I guess I worded that badly.

I meant like a magical impenetrable force field around her so she didn't even have to try to stop attacks. Not like a medieval shield. obv she has that

Like if there's enough magic in the world for those objects, why isn't there enough for that. Like it's an arbitrary limitation of power when there's already fantastical things happening
