![]() Tonight my friend from Chicago and I saw a double bill* of This is the End and Bling Ring.
TitE was hilarious until about the time the dark shadow with the big dick, then it just got really bizarre and uncomfortable but still had some good stuff in it. BR was fun and silly. Hard to peg exactly what kind of movie it is - comedy, drama? * not in the traditional sense of double bill; the tickets were only $4.25 so we decided to see two ($8.50 ftw) |

![]() That's a bit shit, Kinda forcing you to see 3D. You get the option of both here. 3D is slowly but surely decreasing in popularity in UK. I just despise the format, Especially films retrofitted. It can be ok if the director used a 3D camera. I've watched three 3D films in about 5yrs. Avatar, Dredd and Life Of Pi.

![]() The Hunger Games - B+
Wow, what a pleasant surprise! I figured there wasn't a market for well-made young adult literature adaptions anymore, but here we are. Obviously it would have worked better as an R-rated movie (for me, anyway), the love triangle was ridiculously constructed and some of the green screen footage absolutely hideous, but at least it had a strong heroine portrayed by Jennifer Lawrence. No wonder she's Hollywood's darling at the moment. Oh, and I refuse to believe Lenny Kravitz is a single day older than 30. The Producers - C- I usually enjoy Mel Brooks's hijinks, but this movie was completely dull, apart from Gene Wilder's outbursts. Everything from the overt homophobia, the laughable sexism to the endless Nazi jokes bored me to death. Still better than the remake, though... |

![]() I also watched the first episode of the US adaption of Wilfred last night, and though I like the premise and Elijah Wood in general, I can't really see it working as a TV show for more than a few episodes (at best; it was already kind of all over the place).
Does it get better, or should I just move on? |

![]() That scene in your highness when franco sings horribly to his wife was hilarious. Sorta reminded me of robin hood men in tights when robin sings to his bride just so over the top she was literally blown away, just in the other direction lol

The Sound of My Voice 2 highly recommended recent "cult" movies from TuralyonW3 both horror-tinged, with "Sound" being sci-fi tinged as well |

![]() Europa Report...
I liked it, but i'm a bit of a geek when it comes to sci fi. I thought it dragged a bit at times and after all the work to make the science realistic to have the communication system completely break down seemed implausible. Byzantium... I like previous Neil Jorden films like Interview With a Vampire, The Crying Game, Michael Collins... Thought this one was one of the better Vampire films of the past few years. Kiss of the Damned... Reminded me of the The Hunger and other 70s/80s horror films. The guy from Heroes becomes a vampire. Joséphine de La Baume is nice to look at. A good vampire film. Very different from Byzantium but also not geared toward teens. |

![]() i don't find movies like that ironic. they were the blueprints for today's character-driven comedy films and i also enjoy learning about the library musicians that worked on the soundtracks.
but i guess in trots' head if it didn't win 18 academy awards and get released this year it must be garbage and can only be enjoyed ironically. |

![]() i accidentally deleted the bookmark i meant to save where you were chewing me out for dogging people who were just out to have a good time.
here it would illustrate what a giant hyprocrite you are, pushing hard one way this week and another way the next. alas it was lost in your flurry of emotionally-driven replies. |
