I hate festival concerts, esp. huge gigs like Rock am Ring / Rock im Park. A German website claimed, these two shows will be the only two shows as SP in Germany for 2019.

Actually that is not true. It was announced as their only two *festival* shows in Germany. Usually this wording is used on purpose. I guess there's more coming.

They only make festival gigs in Europe. To reach the masses...

Billy found no promoters there to book them for 10k-venues...

You can stay home and watch them on TV live.

Interesting that the OP thought Ed Sheeran was worthy of being mentioned in the same breath as the Cure and Tool

my bad, I haven't heard Slipknot even mentioned in 10 years. which is apparently only due to my age group and taste in music and not their popularity. and even back then I only heard them mentioned as joke.

Unless they are playing the Forbidden Fruit in Ireland, I can't see them playing here at all. Electric Picnic takes place in September... God, I hate festivals.

Unless they did a Marlay Park / Malahide Castle? They mightn't be big enough though, can't see them supporting the Cure either.

Be great if we got a night in the 3 Arena.

I doubt they are able to play Marlay Park... do we still have Indiependence and Castlepalooza?

Aww, Electric Picnic is gas. I'd love to see it headlined by Rubber Bandits with SP beneath that.

Why are the same bands still headlining festivals from 1999?

I think it has more to do w/ the old industry (for all its flaws) being able to result in a band becoming truly huge whereas nowadays it's more a series of cult phenomenons

i remember thinking something similar when i'd heard the list of "best rock album" grammy nominees from like a year or two ago and it was something like The Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney, Muse & some Imagine Dragons type band that was only even in the "rock" category because there was a guitar in there or something

This is what's really disturbing about band orders on these posters, from today's perspective.

Not disturbing for their status in 1994.

Every year in rock music from the 60’s-90’s seemed to have its own sound and evolution. Sadly, that seems to have ended with nu metal in the 2000’s. What a shitty note for rock to have died on.
