Hardcore Devo Vol. 1 74-77

great compilation of the most minimalist early unsettling renditions of Devo tracks

exactly what I wanted from this band that you don't get past Are We Not Men

I love Age of Winters and Warp Riders, but God's of The Earth never clicked with me when it came out. I'll give it another go.

i have spent a few days listening to TGBK, Oceania, and MTAE since I've been talking about them so much and wanted to remember exactly what the songs sounded like. And now i can't get that time back

TGBK is seriously the worst. So bad it makes the other two sound good.

Dr Dre - Compton

I actually like this just as much as I liked The Chronic, surprisingly
It's a good album, although it probably won't go down as a classic
some of the tracks were featured on Straight Outta Compton, the movie.

It is great, but Freedom of Choice still has some Choice cuts: Girl You Want, the title track, Gates of Steel. They are lacking a certain rawness/weirdness though I guess.

I just discovered these guys (I am always late). Have you heard the other two, Apocryphon and High Country? Planning to download soon.

Best song on Gods of the Earth is Fire Lances of the Hyperzephrians. Shit will melt your mind.

I didn't like it when I first heard it last summer but it's really grown on me. Much greater album than I originally gave it credit for. Definitely the highlight result of his speed freak era. Lots of weirdo funk tracks. Been reading the Anthony DeCurtis book and immersing in 73/74-era bootlegs and albums. Makes it easier to make sense out of all his work.

I feel like from 1972-1977 he played almost the exact same setlist, but with a different band. Surprised at the amount of 1973 SBD recordings, as well.
