I concur. There is a strange sense of alienation I feel when I listen to this song. and it feels so good. Especially on a dark winter day.

I recently bought my first guitar, and IMB and Come As You Are have been the first songs I've played. They're really simple and so great.

Exactly! Reminds me of when I was younger. I was, apparently, very confident. It was my dad, mainly. He's cool now though. Although he lives somewhere else now, he's always good to me, and he genuinely feels sorry. I'm okay with him now. He's the smartest person I know too, haha.
And bullies. So. Many. Bullies. But dad first. I kind of started believing that letting people hit me was an okay thing to do. Good thing I realised that it isn't. Better late than never. Although it has left a mark on my personality for good, but meh.

I'm sorry you got beaten. I had something different happen, where I was very very emotionally sensitive, and then I started dissociating a lot instead (which I still do).

I still dissociate a lot. Like I said, it left a mark on my personality. I don't know what happened with you, but I hope you're doing better now.

I too was incredibly emotionally sensitive. Because of this, I was functionally mute for ~1 year. I cried when the smallest things happened. I'd literally duck or cover my face when anyone would reach out their hand, even to give me something or just make a (non-violent) gesture. I always felt threatened. I still do, sometimes, but I've toughened up a little, which I'm happy about.

My mom used to hit me too! Every other day. I'm in the exact same situation, my mom is the person I'm closest to, more or less. As a matter of fact, as she has pointed out several times, she's the only one I ever make eye contact with.

you're right, they can be very awful. sigh.

They're gone. I pretty much create the first impression that I am not to be fucked with, with most people I meet now. I usually have to be a bit of a dick in the beginning, but it's for the best.

I don't like people touching me either. I also don't like phoney, pretentious people. Therefore, I don't like most people I meet. Oh well, I'm perfectly fine with not having friends. I'm comfortable by myself.

ah i'm sorry to hear. i also have the defensive reaction when people put their hands out. and then i remember when someone would taunt me with hitting/pretending he was going to hit me and back and forth and he would laugh at me being scared and trying to put my hands in front of my face etc.

usually when anyone touches anything but my arms i get muscle spasms. arms are weird but i don't spasm. this is fun at the doctor.

things will get better. i used to be much worse. but i think i'm ruined as far as romantic relationships go, unfortunately

Yeah having a gf (i actually had one once!!!) was weird. i can't stand being touched on my sides for some reason.

and when my neighbor came up and put her hand on my shoulder (she did it in front of her friend a CASHIER in safeway lol) i almost fell over. i hate that. especially in public. Kept my headphones in turn around and fled.
