Just fucking put a single out ASAP.. and make the album available online for a price that you choose. God fucking damn Billy Corgan and co. They're always making every release so unnecessarily complicated with "announcements of announcements" and stupid bullshit since 2008 like the different colored versions of Zeitgeist. Fucking idiot William. People just are curious to hear what the music sounds like now and feel whether it's good or not.

Thumbs down

William Patrick Corgan and his Smashing Pumpkins are at this time without a record contract.
The expired one with BMG was for marketing and distribution of two records. Which had been the releases "Monuments To An Elegy" and "Ogilala", none commercial successful.
Are both parties therefore interested in a new deal?

Corgan would never do it because he's anti "indie" but if he just released new stuff through bandcamp or something like that, and, you know, wrote good songs and totally changed his personality, he could probably do quite well. That darn ego is his worst enemy

In this day and age, I don't even understand why Billy would need a label to release music. It's quite easy to do it all on your own and get yourself in digital stores and streaming sites and sites like Bandcamp and Kickstarter and Pledge Music for funding physical merch. The Smashing Pumpkins name is big enough to not need a label. He could pull a Nine Inch Nails/Radiohead with the next album or EP and do it all himself. He's not some small indie band that needs the promotion. But yeah, sadly his ego will always get in the way. Such a sh-sh-sh-sh-sh-shame.

Only song im interested in hearing is “with sympathy”. Unlike many reunion era songs, it doesn’t have a cringey title. Reminds me of a Mellon Collie era song title actually. Plus, jimmy had a hand in writing it. I bet it’s the one billy mentioned in January on instagram. Has 9th chords, which to my knowledge would be a first for a SP song.

This is true and much smaller artists have successfully started their own labels or released their music via alternative methods. Billy could easily have taken this sort of route and fostered what felt like a more special relationship with the fan base by bypassing all this outdated celebrity bullshit. But his attitude fucking sucks. He can whine and complain about living in the past all fucking day and night but he's ultimately projecting. He's the moron who can't get over recapturing exactly what he had for 5 minutes in 1996 instead of doing literally anything else.

The TbK thing was doomed to fail. He was obsessed with this idea about people only listening to their favourite songs from an album, especially the singles. So he figured that he would record single after single, and that people would actually maintain interest long enough to download each song as it came out. He's completely the wrong type of artist to pull this off, at the completely wrong time in his career, attracting only the most hardcore fans to be bothered listening to a shitty washed-up hippy sounding song at ever-increasing intervals.

if he would have stuck to a song once a month spaced inbetween maybe an EP style release here and there it would have been pretty interesting regardless of song quality

this assumes he ignores the lack of popular success (he can't)

some of the tracks were novelty good to me, like sketches from his notebook, I'm glad I heard them

where as Corgan putting together a RAWK Album like monuments is just zzzzzzzz

the last thing Corgan did that wow'd me is that Backwards Clock Society performance of "Make it Happen" in like '09

his voice sounds pretty good on it as compared to complete ass most everywhere else, so weird

I was kinda hoping that got a tbk version just out of curiosity great song in general

James signing a Fender guitar beside Billy's autograph. They're not having a new marketing deal with Fender for the tour...?

the problem with tbk was the gaps between the songs was too long.

billy keeps wanting to go big because he wants the big $$ advertisement. Zeitgeist special edition colors moved volumes because each different big box store bought pallets of the cds in huge volumes (regardless of customers buying them since most of them ended up in discount bins). but the box stores aren't going to do that mistake twice. I don't know what his plan is this time around or if any of it is working.

Yeah if he'd stuck to the month by month thing it might have worked, unfortunately he didn't. He could've wrote off the 11 Teargarden songs as demos/outtakes/bonuses of that "era" or whatever and at least it woudn't have seemed so shitty. Rather than trying to drag it out and claiming Oceania as the "album within an album" that only the click baits, interviewers and wiki editors fell for. To his credit he did tell Stern "no we're way past that now" when questioned but it was far too late, it was around Monuments time.

He couldn't even finish not finishing a project.

I only recently devoted time to those Backwards Clock Society/Spirits in the Sky shows, and I really liked them. I kinda wish those songs would have been just recorded like that as a Billy Corgan solo album, with the absurdly large band a la Bob Dylan's Desire. All that shit fares much better in that context rather than rebranded as a "Smashing Pumpkins" thing and presented in the faux-SP sound. That's all Teargarden should have been, not this 44 song bullshit.

Agreed, those shows were good. Just really humble and unpretentious; the hippie vibe actually worked

If he just did that after ZG then started the reunion tour thing, I'd be happy to support them

Desire is my favorite Dylan album, and that tour was amazing.

Hoping we get like a 12-CD box of the tour as the next bootleg Series.

Big band jazz drummers like Buddy Rich , Gene Krupa and Louie Bellson used this kind of drumhead logo. Jimmy wants to remind on his jazz influences...
