Saw them last night. Front row standing, right in front of Kevin. I had been awake for ~40 hours when they started and had been in the sun all day (festival), dehydration and exhaustion were setting in, not to mention having just seen Swans and Godspeed so I was pretty emotional fatigued. ANYWAY: the point of the story is that all these factors combined when they played To Here Knows When, and I just zoned out and went limp and I was like man if I die right now I wont even care I just want to be here forever because I will never know Bilinda's warm embrace so fuck it this is going to do just fine.

10/10 best concert experience ever would go again.

CD arrived in the mail today. The artwork inside is really colourful. Hardly any notes, which isn't surprising.

a longer interview from 1992 got posted a few days ago...quite annoying background noises but otherwise not bad.

tbh I don't think the s/t album lives up to the other two. I liked it a lot when it came out but now that some time has gone by I just don't see it ever being a classic like Loveless or Isn't Anything.

sorry, but I must disagree vehemently. mbv is classic shit, better than isn't anything. she found now and new you are perfect songs.

of course it isn't as good as loveless, but what is?

Admittedly, Sometimes is a work of aesthetic triumph which could swallow the world in its infinity of pain and distorted guitars, and I didn't expect s/t to top something like that.

But overall the album is just not very memorable.

The first 30 seconds of Only Shallow are a thousand times more memorable than anything on MBV.

I'm with Fool on this one, y'all r crazy.

I can't imagine a better follow-up to Loveless. Not only does it provide several new iterations of that sound, but the last 3 tracks harken back to the bizarre and noisier elements of their early recordings, while simultaneously sounding fresh and exciting.

Also "something comes and pins me to the sky." Fuck!

I mentioned Loveless as a record that can make me cry to a friend with generally good taste and he scoffed me relentlessly for it. Apparently there's no crying to rock and roll allowed.

Anyway, I commend you for your sensitivity to great art and willingness to admit it shamelessly.

Am I the only one who doesn't like pre-Loveless MBV all that much? I dunno, Isn't Anything is just too jangly and grating for me. Loveless and mbv are sonic perfection, though.

It's an acquired acquired taste. Took me years but now I love the noisy/irritating stuff nearly as much as Loveless and mbv. The louder you crank it the better. The low fi sonic artifacts begin to blend at loud volume into something trance-inducing akin to the best moments on Loveless.

I recommend checking out the remastered EP collection. There's some essential non-loveless MBV on there.

I think Isn't Anything is a great album although lo-fi harshness isn't my favorite recording style. They have some good songs scattered throughout their releases from before that, but Loveless is really their singular masterpiece to me. Without Loveless they would seem like a much lesser band.
