I think it would usually be a fruit soda rather than a cola or something.

I have no idea what beer is typically used.

Both things are better off on their own, IMO.

Hey now, I tried a newly released beer and ginger radler recently, and it was absolutely delicious. Beer and carbonated water is also fantastic on hot summer nights.

My family loved Germany because it was the only country in Europe that served big enough portions that they weren’t hungry afterwards. And they serve big drinks, too.

I feel like areas of the U.S. that are known for big portions may have been settled by Germans.

My cousin married a German guy and when we went for dinner he served three different types of meat and a lot of wine. We ended with some brandy and I thought I was going to faint from the meat and alcohol I had consumed. I have a lot of respect for German hospitality.

I have not tried either of these but may I suggest a nice Kalimotxo (equal parts red wine and a cola-based soda pop) or perhaps a pint of Purple drank (cough syrup + soda pop + a hard candy/jolly rancher)?

That reminds me. My coworker recently told me about the only way she'll drink alcohol. If you think the Germans are bad wait until you hear this. Not sure if it's a southern thing or if it's particular to her. You take a two liter bottle of orange soda, pour out a quarter of the bottle, add not one but TWO packets of Kool-Aid drink mix (I think she said one orange and one grape), and then top off the bottle with vodka and Walla Walla, WA: you've got a recipe for suffering
