Default Modest Mouse

I never really looked into these guys much. I originally wrote them off as Pixies imposters. But after reading Johnny Marrs book and realizing that he had a stint in the band I decided to check em out and they're actually pretty rad.

What do you guys think?

This videos fucking sweeeeet

Yeah, it's almost like you shouldn't walk around life misinformed and under wrong assumptions.

fuzzy, when will you accept defeat and open up your heart and mind to all these new possibilities?

I'm very open minded and check out a lot of new music, it's just most of the time I'm very underwhelmed.

In his defense he checked out Heavy Rocks Akuma No Uta and Attn Plz. Also he went to a concert where he thought Wata played bass and Takeshi was a "chick".

I have nothing else to say in his defense.

I was thinking a little more broadly. It's been proven time and again that your misconceptions about art and politics (and more) are hindering your emotional growth a great deal. Why not drop the act that you know everything there is to know and open up your heart and mind to possibilities you hadn't considered before? You know, like how Modest Mouse are not a Pixies knockoff and how Roy Moore is not fit for office, regardless of how his politics align with your own...

I mean this in all sincerity. Let. Your. Guard. Down. There's a whole world out there you are shutting yourself off from by digging your heels in so hard.

Like, fuck. I tell you you'd like Third Eye Blind, and you're all "Naw, I downloaded their worst album, the one that NOBODY in their fanbase likes, and decided I'm good."

It's more a collection of odds and ends than a legit album, but it definitely contains some of their best work.

This one's a personal favorite:

In my defense I was pretty drunk and smoked a couple joints with these metal guys outside the venue before the show. I was rippered and to be honest, they utilized the smoke machine so much that I couldn't even really see (or at least didn't notice) the intricacies of their playing.

I also checked out Dear... Not really digging a lot of it. Has 2 cool songs though.

It's mostly just Brock, and to be honest, he pretty much does ape Black Francis. It doesn't bother me anymore though. It's a dope person to ape.

Couldn't be more wrong man. When I was 15 I'd be arguing with people that Green Day is better than Blink 182

I never thought Takeshi was a chick. I simply thought Wata was the bassist.

I'm just so underwhelmed by their hits that I don't really think I should bother. I've heard a few of the tracks you've posted and stuff and it doesn't really get me going.

The leadsinger sounds like the guy from Cracker lol

i know but it's still my favorite release of theirs
it was put out in this sweet spot between LCW and M&A where they were probably already signed to the major, so the odds & ends were remixed or something to all have that sweet, sweet M&A quality, but the performances have the grit of LCW & Long Drive stuff
not too mention, the songs at their core are pretty much all top-quality Mouse

Agreed. It's kind of like their Pisces Iscariot.

The point is, you seem to always be writing stuff off based on limited knowledge. If you explored a little deeper, you'd find a lot of good stuff you've overlooked.

Don't you dare come to me in a few years raving about this awesome new band, 3EB, that you just found, btw.
