Default "Tonight, Tonight" on Top of the Pops in 1996?

I've never seen this... has anyone ever seen the band miming "Tonight, Tonight" on TOTP from May 1996?

There is an extremely short clip at 19 seconds in, so Bill was just singing only.

They probably weren't given a choice I think. Everyone who appeared on TOTPs in those days had to mime. There's a famous (in the UK at least) incident where Nirvana appeared on it and they were so annoyed at being told they weren't allowed to actually play that Cobain deliberately played his guitar like a Thunderbird character and sang Smells Like Teen Spirit like Dave Gahan.

I vaguely remember watching the Tonight, Tonight performance and thinking it was quite good but that was before I'd been exposed to the real live performances.

Could the "White Room" recording have been at the same time...?

no, Jonathan Melvoin was part of the Top of the Pops performance, and he didn't join the tour until 1/2/96 - the white room performance was recorded sometime in December 1995.
