Blashemy!!
At least check out the live version from 9.18.2000, I really started liking that one more after hearing it from this date. Cherub Rock & 1979 - always been meh tracks for me but at the same still timeless and great in their own right. Outside of those two I can't really think of any of the other singles that gave me an eye-roll or heavy sigh when they came on the radio. I certainly got tired of hearing 'Tonight', but it never made me hate the song or anything. Solara is awful, sounds like a Zeitgeist throwback or bside of some sort, Silvery is bettER but still just generic and boring to my ears. At this point I believe seeing the video first with that song is what ruined it for me. Just awful video, please no more videos from Linda. She did a decent job on the "WPC" stuff, but I wish they had kept her out of the SP projects or at best used her for side "creative input" or whatever. I don't doubt she's passionate about her work but even after seeing one of these latest shows on the tour it sincerely made me cringe way more than smile unfortunately. |

Yeah I mean... I know everyone has their opinions but come on. I guess you technically could be a fan and dislike Cherub Rock and 1979 but it just seems... odd.

Oh right, If there is a God and With Every Light are maybe the worst of SP1 from a style perspective. Early glimpses of Ogilala.

"If there's a God" is a far better Bowie-tribute than "Zowie".

finally a thread that brings out the Clay Tuckett in several people.
HOW DARE YOU TO NOT LIKE THIS SONG! Refreshing. The exact opposite to saying you like a song past 2008 - WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU, you have to dislike it! |

BWBW I used to skip a lot. Now I listen to it and try to imagine a world in which people cared about SP.

Depeche Mode's singer Dave Gahan found the version of "Never Let Me Down" by the Smashing Pumpkins better than their own.

I was going to write a list, but then I remembered I already made a list 3 years ago for the exact same thread.
http://forums.netphoria.org/showpost...&postcount=155 I more or less still agree with this post, although I do appreciate Gish and the 2 Machinas more these days, but I still rarely listen to them. I might also add La Dolly Vita to the Pisces list, sorry... Also, I'm really not that big of a fan of Eye, TEITBITE, Transmission.. And I Of The Mourning is one of the worst SP1 songs. I don't really understand the love it gets. For all the times Billy gets criticized for writing repetitive simple lyrics these days, no one bats an eye at the radio radio radio radio radio song. Maybe I'd like it more as an instrumental.. |

The golden era was 91-96.
All the songs from that time period are good. |

Love everything at some point up to Pistol Pete - never warmed to that although I love the album. Then about 50% of Machina. About 75% of Machina II and 99% of everything thereafter.
The Arising shows was the last time I enjoyed new music. |
