I've seen The Pixies and The Pumpkins twice.

One time they didn't say anything and just played through a set out of what felt like obligation.

The other time they were both in great spirits bantering with the crowd throughout.

In case you were wondering....

Weezer is very hit or miss. If Rivers is in a mood he won’t say a single word to the crowd.

But even if they are good these days, the set list is more often all singles. They are totally in rockstar dad mode when touring. Play a show that pleases the majority and pay that mortgage.

I've seen Weezer a lot. Back in 96-2002 (original lineup and the initial reunion album/tours) they were tons of fun. Still fighting to be a big band and enjoying their comeback. After that it got so slick and lifeless that I didn't enjoy it even if they were rocking.
