...I also check the weather. And you're apparently incredulous regarding my four months of personal experience. So. What? You don't believe the weather was good when I was there? Or you don't think that period can be representative of the weather there generally?

Seems like you're trying to argue both points just to be a shit.

I think we may have differing opinions about what constitutes "good weather".

Like, grey, cold, windy - not great weather IMO. But for you maybe those are picnic conditions.

It was generally sunny when I was there. Some gray days but that's true most places, yes? Mostly sunny and 50-70 is what I like. But clouds don't bother me. My favorite season is fall.

Even beyond day-to-day sunny/cloudy, their winters are mild. I think they have higher lows and lower highs than I do here.

North East US is very similar in terms of cloud coverage/temperature overall, which isn't saying much though.

If you live in the south or west, yeah the weather won't be as nice. But it's far from dreadful.

Eulogy is from Chicago, so an England winter is a nice early spring for him. Anyone in the NE would say the same.

It's all perspective.

To a point, sure. But a Chicago winter is objectively shitty. Or pretty close. Maybe some weirdos like it I dunno but I don't think you could say London weather is objectively shitty.

There are times I want to die immediately upon stepping outside in both the winter and summer here. Truly special place this is.

That's what I mean - the people who say London has a shitty winter are comparing it to a London summer. You compare to what is a legit winter with snowstorms and many days near or below 0F. (I love the cold)

i am from a place when it's sunny practically every day

i even have weather data to back me up

besides the fact that english television and humor reflect that london and most of england is cloudy and damp, as well as ireland which accounts for how goddamn pale we are

I have a teacher from London who likes visiting Portland because she says the weather reminds her of home. I always got the impression London was considered to have bad weather because of that dreariness, not because it is particularly harsh.

Yeah that's it...dreary.

It's the same in NZ but the landscape hasn't been ruined quite as much. Still. I find that kind of weather depressing.

I feel like I would quite like pacific NW weather.

Is it as rainy as it's made out to be? That could get annoying.

It's pretty rainy but I've heard it rains more in the southeast US. When it rains it's never that heavy downpour like you'd see in summer storms in the middle of the country. It's usually gentle and intermittent. What's most noticeable is the thick cloud cover and mist for most of the year which makes it pretty dark. Seattle is much wetter than Portland and Vancouver BC the wettest. Summers are mild and sunny.

Last winter was disturbingly dry and cold though so with global warming who knows.

Yeah you're fucking drunk. Last winter it was single digits every awful day (wanted to kill myself). And two years before that we got 8 feet of snowfall.

How can she slap?

i don't recall the rain being a big deal, but i was accustomed to the rain in south florida. i was there for a year spanning the winter of 2009-10, which was particularly harsh for a lot of the northern usa. it was painfully cold and it snowed the week before my birthday--in may. i thankfully found it all quite novel and wasn't bothered too much.

Between anywhere in NE and the whole coastline or the entirety of the western US, give me anywhere else but north east Amurica.

I love the cold, remember that. It was cold yeah but we don't get buried in snow like the lake effect areas or the upper Midwest. We got what, 45" snow? That's not too bad.

But year we had 87" two years ago. It was amazing. 47" within a 4 day span.
