he specifically said chamberlains jazz fusion sensibilities coupled with the psyche/shoegaze/hard rock influence of SP. that's GATGC and a few other machina songs in a nutshell.

Also, when I say 'everybody hated it,' I mean no one got it. I don't think organs going down that road again.

Jesus I / Mary Star of the Sea is one of my favorite BC songs but it's really more about the parts they came up with as a band

While not phenomenal, there were a handful on Zeitgeist that had the potential. They only suffered because of poor production and, IMO, the loss of James and D'arcy. Despite this they are def listenable.

So according to the new Periscope, JC's not playing not the new album, but he could 'stick around for some time later'

Billy's so far spent about 10 minutes gushing about Jim. Pretty cool to watch (but at the same time he's slagging off James and D'arcy which is kinda annoying)

Is it archived? What exactly did he say about jimmy?

I assume the typical James and Darcy stuff.

Billy (Periscope clip):

"Jimmy is just unbelievable."

"There's just something superhuman about him."

"Jimmy is capable of doing things you're not supposed to be able to do."

"I'm very very excited to be with my brother again in this."

Yeah Ram what I took from it was that Jimmy's involvement past the tour, which includes work on the new album, has not really been discussed. However, Billy recognizes Jimmy's commitment to his company. But to me there was no definite "no" to Jimmy on the new album.

But he DID mention something along the lines of it not being discussed with Jimmy. There is a question mark in that column.

Billy sounds like a bf who just got back together with his ex on a temporary basis and is "taking it slow" because that's the condition of them sleeping together again but everyone knows he's already planning the wedding

I guess I just meant that Corgan should try doing something outside the box in general, and since Chamberlin mentioned recently that the way he drums now isn't really the sort of thing he was doing with the Pumpkins, and that even doing Zeitgeist felt alien to him, I was suggesting that Chamberlin bring the sort of sound he likes to do now to the table and sort of morph the Pumpkins sound in that direction.

But yeah, I don't think Corgan wants to try anything artsy or progressive again, because the last two ambitious albums he tried (Adore and Machina) weren't that well received, and now he's forever trying to recapture that early-'90s fame by trying to be as accessible as possible, and making middling rock music as a consequence. Even things that were ambitious in format (Teargarden's intended four-year one-song-at-a-time project) were pallid in content, with pretty shitty bubblegum songs and arena ballads. If I want MOR rock, I can just listen to Counting Crows or Bryan Adams or Train or something.

So now corgan's recognizing jimmy's role to the sound of the band, his importance, his role, etc.

If billy and James kiss and made up I wonder what nice things he'd say about him.

This... is an absolute perfect analogy of Billy and Jimmy right now, especially after watching the latest video.
