i cannot believe that sex scene was like 5 minutes long, between a eunuch and a girl who's like 8 in the books. why.

I thought he was going to say he would deliver Danaerys to her, but maybe he meant Dorne or Asha? I don't know, nothing makes any damn sense in the tv show. Sam's like a magic doctor now because Jorah needs a happy ending? Whateeeveeerrrrr. He's no Jon Connington. |

The love scene was important, emotional, and well done (particularly the "fear" talk leading up to it)
The Arya wolf scene was cool, very interesting thematic undertones. Yes I also imagine Yara is alive and Theon will have to save her. That was not her hanging, just the Dornish daughters. Obviously Euron's gift to Cersei is the Dornish queen who killed her daughter. The Samwell book stuff works because the show is all about all these young, brave characters breaking tradition with what came before them. Man Joren's pain with the scale removal has to be insane. My main takeaway from the first 2 episodes is OMG SAMSA AND JOHN QUIT PISSING OFF LITTLEFINGER. THAT'S LITERALLY THE LAST GUY YOU WANT TO PISS OFF. That is going to end terribly for the Starks.

Danaeris coming to terms with Varys, and his speech about loyalty, were awesome.
Danny, based on Olenna's advice to "be a dragon", is going to break with Tyrian at a crucial moment... will it be for good or bad... |

Their romance has been culminating for like 2 seasons, and he's never been with a woman (a virgin in effect), and ashamed of his castration. She accepted him for who he was, and took away his shame.
It was a very humanizing moment for two characters who have always been very "cold" due to their background, nature and duties. If you don't care about these characters at this point, and don't appreciate this moment between them, I don't know what to tell you. And I thought the "fear" talk was touching, as well as interesting background about the unsullied. Last edited by TuralyonW3 : 07-24-2017 at 10:34 PM. |

There were no more "cheesy soap opera" moments than in every previous season. It's a dramatic show set in a medeival fantasy world. It's not like the dialogue used to be any more "realistic" or whatever.

It was important if you consider those characters to be important, in other words?
Anybody might think you were making a circular argument. |

The pie kid learning how to brown butter was equally important by that logic, as he's been working at those recipes for a while now.

His náďvété did provide a neat contrast to Arya's development since their last encounter.

we only get 7 episodes during this run, then 7 more next year, yeah?
pacing seems odd considering that |

i know i'm just being harsh. ya'll probably feel the way the wife and I felt about Walking Deads, where after watching dutifully for 7 seasons, we jumped ship cuz it just got fucking boring and there are too many cool things to watch and not enough time.

that video also made me realize: pretty cool how all the leaders in Dany's council were female (Dany, Olenna, Ellaria and Yara)

i have a big issue with those curveball, hyper-obscure references that would be utterly lost on one, had it not been for Inside The Episode and reviews by people who invested the last 7 years unraveling every last bit of trivia about the GoT universe.
i mean, on the one hand, i really do love that the show gives the viewers enough credit to NOT drag them through grating expository dialogue. i honestly think it's great that they consciously refuse to do that, and a lot more moviemakers/showrunners should be doing the same. but on the other hand, being THAT obscure - with Arya's line that makes or breaks an entire scene, with The Hound's realization that the dead farmer and his daughter is his wrongdoing - that's the other extreme, and it's almost just as bad, in many ways. i think confusing your viewers and relying on them to read later on what a particular scene was all about, is simply lackluster storytelling. |

I honestly think the show has more good than bad going for it, even if I wasn't that big of a fan of the last episode.
I enjoyed the ship fight scene, it was appropriately chaotic and disorienting. |
