Default Oceania - Soundcloud Vinyl Rip?

Is there a way to download/extract the actual existing audio files from SoundCloud without further lossyness? I've done a lot of searching & not figuring out how to do this via the ways that can often be done downloading FLVs, YouTube vids, etc.

While not a lossless source, it seems like this vinyl recording of Oceania might be noteworthy since:

* The sound quality is still nice (doesn't sound like warbly RealAudio, etc)

* Billy Corgan is narrating & playing the vinyl, so, one would assume this was done using high-quality equipment. It's doubtful BC is using some shitty cheap turntable, and you don't hear scratchy shrill distortion on this recording like you might on some average joe's record player.

* Hell, just to have for completist's sake, just like we have all those old 1991 radio shows, etc? Seems like someone might want to save this, as it's supposedly only up for a limited time.

The only tricks I've found online involve sites that will only convert the SoundCloud stream to a 128 kps mp3. Surely there's some way to just extract the existing audio file without further transcode? It would be nice to find something that either keeps the original files, or saves them as a WAV.

Most likely some fans' vinyl rips will be going around at some point. But it just seems fairly interesting that this is BC's own rip. If anyone's interested, the links to each side of the vinyl are here:

Hit record on your sound card while it plays. There are several programs that will capture the stream as well. I don't really think it's worth it when we already have a hi-res version of the album and vinyl rips on the way.

Maybe this is worth a try?

Recording straight from the soundcard audio to WAV wouldn't be terrible as long as the levels are set correctly.

doing this will get you an mp3 > wav bloat but I guess that is ok. I would just wait for the 24/96 to show up on what/waffles

What are you talking about? Zeitgeist on vinyl doesn't exist.

My Life Begins Again and The Future Embrace vinyl just got here yesterday. TFE must have sat in the mail truck in the heat too long...it's badly warped.

If you use Flash Video Downloader for Firefox you can download the actual mp3s. Downloading this isn't converting to a mp3, the file inside the soundcload is an MP3 and FVD downloads that mp3.

I use JDownloader (works for any system), you can download it here

http://jdownloader.org/download/index

Then you can use audacity or s.th. to split the tracks...

Soundcloud automatically transcodes everything uploaded to 128 kps for their streaming. So ask yourself: Do you really want a better rip of the vinyl when the highest you'll ever get is 128 kps?

Oh, cool. Do you know if any info was provided; any geeky stuff like what kind of turntable & equipment was used? Hopefully the needledrop finds its way out to other avenues, for those of us who are What-challenged....
