As it stands, I don't see how this album will have that type of impact with it's lack of pop-sensible tracks.
why is that important

At any rate: Thanks a bundle, Trot, for introducing me to Hum. I'm going to dive into their back catalog & work my way up to see if I dig em

Weirdly enough, they're album ''Downward is Heavenward is kind of reminding me of a harder Sunny Day Real Estate, which is never a bad thing. Though it's been quite a while since I've listened to that band.

but i think the fact that there's no pop singles on here means maybe he's getting tired of trying to chase stadium venues and hits on the radio

i mean for what it's worth he did actually deliver on the idea that he wanted to make a cohesive album, i think we expect that from him that it just doesn't get a tip of the hat when it's deserved

i mean some artists have trouble holding consistent musical themes and colors over 10 tracks, never mind trying to be relentlessly inventive and complex...corgan seems to do it effortlessly.

Yeah.. if there's one thing you can't accuse him of, its lacking innovation or creativity.

I want to hear Billy asked again about the concept that you can't write good music if you're happy. Last time he responded with something like, "I believe I can write good music when I'm happy, but I haven't proven that yet"

I can't imagine he was very happy writing/recording this record after Jimmy left and Tulin died and his relationship ended. And when he was "happy" he was putting out the shittiest music of his career. Right? I really think the dude needs to be miserable to make good music. I also attribute all this to him being pretty tubby right now.

WE UNDERSTAND what subjective means, but 99% of everyone who listens to rock music is going to disagree with you. I could say, "Look at that pretty, red fire truck!" And you could respond, "To me that is more of a blue fire truck. It's not red to me."

well yeah you can make up your own definitions to things if you want, cause meanings are suuuuuuuuuuubjeeeeeeeeeeeeeectiiiiiiiiiiiiiiive but that doesn't make you not an idiot for doing it. You aren't convincing anyone that Hello Kitty Kat or Bury Me are not melt-your-face-off heavy songs. Heavy is not a genre, it's a musical quality, i.e. loud guitars forceful vocals wall of sound instrumentation blah blah

jesus you sound like the guy who came around a few months ago arguing that Ava Adore is a metal song because to him it has elements of metal in it

The only reason you can say there are no pop singles on the album is because he didn't release any. Fans are the worst at predicting what songs will appeal to the masses. You are a rotten liar if you say you predicted 1979 would be the biggest hit of their entire career.

With MACHINA?

It's obviously got nu-metal in it.

You are confusing alternative metal with nu metal. Machina has some alternative metal influences. There is nothing on that album that is remotely nu metal.

I can't wait until Corgan releases the remixed version of Machina. Lots of decent material on that album, ruined by the sludgy, digitized late 90s production.

You're probably thinking of Catherine/Kerry Brown. I think Corgan once mentioned that the "Big Muff Vroom Vroom" guitar tone for Siamese Dream was actually invented by Kerry. Or, they worked on it together, or something like that.
