I didn't know her that well, I remember she was kind of quiet, but she was in the same social circles as me.

Also, fucking Gin Blossoms? Are you high? Or just braindead? That'd be like Tonic opening for Radiohead. Gin Blossoms (and Tonic) are a fine band in their own way, but clash with the whole aesthetic presented by Smashing Pumpkins. I mean, come on. I don't think anybody in Gin Blossoms is about to go out on stage in a shirt 2x too small for them, gut and coin-slot hanging out. Do you?

with the current line-up, maybe Garbage as opener (because nostalgia and I was born too late.)

Dream choice would be an all acoustic evening, starting with PJ Harvey, then two songs with both of them, then Corgan playing whatever (SP/Zwan/solo) acoustic.

I'm talking about feasible bands that would likely join SP on tour. Of course I could ring off bands like "Radiohead"... But theres no way in hell that they would ever drop to a level of touring with Billy Corgan.

Gin Blossoms is a band that Billy could easily sign up for a tour and they'd be a band that I and a bunch of the SP community would love to see.

I know I emphasized the "hypothetical" aspect.

But I was still hoping that people would think about this question with a little bit of realism in their minds.

Werent the Gin Blossoms basically just a rip off of R.E.M.? Tonic kind of had their own sound at times at least.

You don't hear REM in the Gin Blossom's sound? Are you fucking serious? You must be a troll. REM is probably their biggest influence.

they're perhaps a small influence... But it's not one of those bands where you hear them and think: "OH, JUST ANOTHER REM RIP OFF".

They're much more introspective and personal than a group like REM ever was.

Tonic left much more of an impression on me than the Gin Blossoms ever did. They were just kind of dull and boring not to mention more derivative. Tonic came off as more emotive and intense. Compare something like "Casual Affair" or "If You Could Only See" with anything Gin Blossoms did.

the gin blossoms might as well have been the band who wrote "kiss me," because honestly I get all those 90s-as-fuck-kinda-flowery-pop-bands mixed up all the fuckin time

You can throw REM into that pile. Jangle pop is such a boring sub genre of rock.

yyyeeah i think i could hazard a guess r.e.m. were a bit more defined (or refined, prhps!) than "Sixpence None the Richer"

holy shit, imagine agreeing with about 4 other people that that was the best thing to call yourselves on a longterm basis

OY, SIXPENCE... NONE THE RICHA!
