Tentative plans for France. I'll at least be using it to drive up to Canada which I didn't really need a passport for per se but it does make things easier.

i thought i remember hearing about some law changing where you need a passport to get into mexico or canada.

The government has done a really poor job of explaining what's going on with that since 9/11 but as I understand it sometime soon you'll at least need a passport to get back into the US if you're going to Canada, or something. I think currently you can still do fine with an ID and birth certificate but I didn't have my birth certificate either so I figured might as well get both at the same time.
