I might be down for this assuming it ever happens. When the thing came out, I think I listened to it all of once and forgot about it for years, it was just so brief and forgettable. But I hadn't seen IAGW at that point, so I hadn't heard No Surrender, 99 Floors, Question Mark, I Don't Mind... think there's a fair few numbers there that are worth some attention.

This would be great. The only track from that EP I liked was The Rose March, while several of the IAGW tracks were killer, including Peace + Love, 99 Floors, as well as Gossamer and Superchrist, if we're counting those. A lesson for Billy Corgan: the music you don't release is often better than what you do release, so just record and release it all, please.

American Gothic was such a wet blanket when it came out. Everything about it, even the cover art, was so bland and absent of anything i liked about the band or even Zeitgeist. In retrospect, couple of good songs on it - definitely wouldn't have guessed the words "expanded edition" would have ever been associated w/ it

never really got the love for American Gothic, although a lot of people seem to think it has aged well. Some of the acoustic songs from that period had potential, but they feel undeveloped to me and the studio treatment doesn't help.

also AG was the first release where I was ready to admit to myself upon first listen that I was really disappointed and the music made me feel nothing

I liked three out of the four tracks. I feel like Zeigeist would have been a better album if he'd waited a bit to release it and included Rose March, Sunkissed and Again, along with Stellar and Zeitgeist (the song). And of course, dropped For God and Country, Doomsday Schlock and maybe Pomp.

Should this happen, I'll accept it as canon.

I had the exact same reaction then, and I think the fact that it was just four songs, Pox being absolutely terrible, had a lot to do with that. And at the time I had no interest in acoustic folksy SP, but looking back it sure as hell was a change of pace, and much of the material sure was more heartfelt than a lot of what came before or after.

Also: should be a hidden track if it ever happens:

I just found Pox mediocre. Not bad or anything but just not something I ever need to hear again. Really liked Again and loved Sunkissed. I like Rose March too but I by no means love it. It's a pleasant tune though.

IAGW - If All Goes Wrong - was a live DVD that documented the residency performances in Asheville and San Francisco in 2007. It was after Zeitgeist, before Teargarden started up. They played a bunch of songs live that never saw release on any album.

I skipped over it initially because live DVDs aren't really a thing I do often and couldn't believe how much stuff was tucked away on there when I watched it years later.

I still need to see IAGW. Loved the Asheville residency show though. It was amazing and Billy actually had a lot of good interaction with the crowd. It was a stark contrast to this last tour, in which he barely said anything in between songs.

that 2nd DVD w/ just the concert had some pretty sweet renditions of older songs - i think that was the first time i'd heard the Arising version of BSBT

That's because I don't believe there was ever an audio CD associated with "If All Goes Wrong", so you can't so much as buy mp3s of the album online, you pretty much have to watch the DVD or download mp3 rips from file sharing. To make matters worse, the songs are couched with a documentary of Billy being a diva towards his band mates, awkward towards fans, and self important for the camera, so he really went out of his way to make sure nothing commercially significant would come of IAGW. It seems that a decade later, Billy often realizes he pissed away a commercial opportunity and tries to put the genie back in the bottle, and TBH I hope he does revisit the residency material he wrote, and tack As Rome Burns on there for good measure.

Yeah. I full on HATED Crying Tree until I heard him do a stripped down acoustic version of it on that tour. It was then I realized that underneath all that overproduced mess that's on Machina was a surprisingly good song.

Oh, do it. It's amazing. Billy in hilarious jammies struggling to sleep, creepy fans bringing out a giant bust of his torso and his horrified reaction, Jeff having a stage meltdown...it's all so worth it.

Yeah, I'll definitely check that out. Sound amazing, especially Jeff having and onstage meltdown, lol. I didn't realize he was capable of showing emotion.
