I'm still looking for that sense of excitement knowing it's not really bound to happen. Once in a while it kinda does. Every few years a band will come around ill be really excited about for some months. Then i'll calm down and probably think "i kinda overrated t**** |

I'm really stoked for the new Sufjan cause tbh I really dig his songwriting but don't care all that much for his proclivity for weird grandiose arrangements and stuff, which he totally focused on with the Age Of Adz record so i'm pretty keen to hear some more stripped back stuff.

Kanye's new album intended to be joyful noise to God. Doesn't sound promising. I want the angry pissed off eccentric Kanye of Yeezus. |

I've listened to Carrie & Lowell a couple of times now. It's the sort of music I need to spend a lot of time with to fully appreciate. Nice melodies, nice songs, but I need to pay close attention to the lyrics and his vocal delivery to go beyond the surface of "nice". I've done that with a couple of songs already, and I think they are amazing. |

Marriages, that's the one upcoming album release I'm actually excited about.
with Modest Mouse I'd usually be more excited about, if I didn't find the single god awful. hopefully it's one of the cases where the single is worse than the album... there are some decent tracks in this one - documentary score composed by Thom Yorke and Robert Del Naja (Massive Attack), feat. Johnny Greenwood and Euan Dickinson (Elbow) https://soundcloud.com/ukgoldfilm/se...old-soundtrack http://www.ukuncut.org.uk/tax-dodging-is-theft/ the tracks Yorke composed however are underwhelming, Del Naja did a bunch that sound really good. |

the songs I didn't like that much right away grow on me, I enjoy the entire album now.
even the Lampshades single sounds so much better within the album. "get on your horse and ride" is like a brain virus, I couldn't help but say it to people. works really well... especially if you say the other line first "god is an indian AND YOU ARE AN ASSHOLE." |

It's interesting that their drummer Jeremiah wrote the lyrics to God Is an Indian.

EARL SWEATSHIRT - I DONT LIKE SHIT I DONT GO OUTSIDE I feel bad for Earl having this drop the same week as Kendrick's new one which was always going to be a huge release. Anyway it's a fucking superb record, he's doing so much with so little - every track has fuck all going on in the beat and his vocals are dry and front-and-centre. No hooks, very few guests, under a half an hour. It's a rare thing - an exercise in minimalism in hip-hop - done really really well. Dark, dreary, sparse, raw shit. |
