One online store is still selling something similar to Kodak's colour-infrared film. Looks cool, but it's expensive as fuck, and probably in limited supply. I feel like I'd end up wasting it on shit shots. I'd be spitting in the faces of photographers everywhere if they were the last rolls in existence.

What about the caffenol thing?

Your feathers will outshine them all when you're soaking up the cool points usually reserved for baristas.

If you do find somebody willing to cross-process slide, you'll want to make sure their scanning software won't color correct and undo a lot of what you've set out for. This can be difficult. There's bound to be a lab somewhere that's a little more geared towards the alternative approaches, however, even if that does require messing around with postmen and envelopes.

Blown-out skies despite general underexposure and heightened levels of noise are the biggest threats, I'd say. I tried cross-processing some tungsten slide put through a Zenit 12 CD and the averaged metering delivered me directly unto an unmitigated disaster.

You have the face of a preacher, the kind of dude that moves to India to study yoga, or possibly even a nursing home employee that casually poisons the residents because elderly deaths are rarely looked into.

It'd be nice to have a lounge suite upholstered in public transport fabric.

Never again would I be told off for leaving an ass-shaped outline of peanut crumbs on my side of the couch.

there is none. that's the address of their website. the only difference I have heard of is between BORIS and boris, the former being their rocknroll stuff and the latter experimental.

Yes this is good

I wonder which genius came up with the brightly coloured motif?

Breaking News

I just got told by a perfect stranger that I have "gorgeous hair"" She said "you have gorgeous hair.'

That's right: SHE. Relatively young female. Maybe I should have talked to her instead of blushing and fleeing.

There's a gif of the unicorn riding the tricycle and Billy the puppet crawling after her, but I'm too lazy to upload it now. My point is my employees follow my example.

Good, you learned life lesson #253 - don't work a job you hate. I've loved my job every day since I started it 6 years ago.

I did a not-office music marketing job for some time, and it had its perks, but I prefer structure. I will say, though, that this is the first office job I haven't utterly hated, and that I am cool with retiring from down the road.

Yeah, my issue isn't with fun at work...it's with people who don't own their work because there's a holiday...because it's Friday...because of X excuse.

We have that here to an extent, but it gets spotlighted and shut down pretty quickly. The culture here minimizes that for the most part, though.

I might give caffenol a try one day, but it seems more like it'd be a science project than an artistic venture.

Yeah, the lab's scanners automatically tried colour-correcting my LomoChrome Purple stuff, so I'd probably have o find a different lab if I wanted to do cross-processing. I'll look into what we've got in town, but I've seen some online services, like TheDarkroom.com.

The Canon A-1 doesn't even have a built-in light meter (being the first film camera with a programme mode, they probably prematurely figured they had made them obsolete), so exposing for slide film with definitely be a challenge.

Kinda wondering about charging for photos.

I haven't really thought about it, because I don't think I've got the skill to justify charging for portraits. I've talked with some people here and there about taking photos, but I of course didn't consider charging them for what seemed to me to be a couple friends engaging in a mutually enjoyable activity.

However, the other day at my university food court, the lady who was taking my order inquired about having some photos taken. I wasn't carrying my camera at the time, but I often do have it on me, and she must had recognized me. She wants me to meet with her over the weekend to take some photos.

I don't really like the idea of charging people, but I'm still spending my time to meet with and take photos of a virtual stranger. And then there's the cost involved in buying and processing film, as well. I don't feel justified in charging anybody for my skill and experience, of which I have none, but maybe I should be getting some compensation for my supplies? Film ain't cheap.

However, when she asked me how much I charged, I told her that I'm not a professional, and that I've just been taking photos as a hobby, and as such, have never yet charged anyone. I feel like my answer was an implicit "I'll do it for free," and that I can't really go back now and be like "would you like to pay by cash, or by cheque?"

So, uh, what do?
