The documentary that autoplayed after the last episode showed me that I have much more respect for the making of this than I do for the quality of the story they ended up telling

Question

Anyone watch this new miniseries Unbelievable on Netflex? It's fucking harrowing. I watch a lot of "cops investigate an unthinkable crime"-type stuff and none of it has gotten under my skin like this one. Really great writing and performances.

Turns out Michael Chabon and Ayelet Waldman are some of the executive producers, and write some of the episodes, so you know that shit is off the charts.

Thumbs up

I'm only two episodes into Castle Rock on Hulu (I think just three are posted already? It's weekly) and I'm liking it a lot more than the first season; Annie rules

Cool

I finally decided to watch Breaking Bad because I read some good reviews.

Around halfway through season four I realized I had already watched the show.

Okay, watched the horrifying third episode and can confirm this show kicks ass

No spoilers, but everything from the moment Annie notices the glass on the bedside table onward is intense as hell

Even if you didn't like the first season, this is an anthology setup so it's a totally new cast and story

Jack Ryan, season 2

I remember season 1 of this being adequate and enjoyable, if sometimes a little dumb. This season it's the dumbest show on tv. There's what ought to be, but somehow isn't, an international incident in almost every episode. There's a last-minute revelation that, to make sense, means a character had to act strongly against their own self-interest literally every time they showed up. There's agents of multiple intelligence agencies going rogue at the drop of a hat to assist an acquaintance. And I can't talk about it without spoiling the whole season, but there's a final mission in the last episode that is just, like, not only do I not believe they got away with it, but I would like to see them tried at the Hague over it.

I know Tom Clancy's all about his military/intelligence porn, and maybe James Bond irrevocably severs international ties in all his movies, I dunno. I've just never walked out of a Bond movie thinking "every hero in that should be in jail for the rest of their lives or executed on live tv."

Better Call Saul was a total let down. Spin-offs are usually shit.

The last few minutes and last line especially were pretty bad, but I'd be willing to watch the next episode before I decide to never watch it again.
