mainstream libertarians, of the hilarious ronpaul variety and milton friedman as well, see government still having a limited role
Just because I think it would clear up a bit of confusion, I want to correct this. It's a travesty that the American right and, yes, many Ron Paul fans, are claiming that Austrian economics is somehow about "following the constitution" or "free markets" or that "capitalism is the best." Austrian economics, and yes, I would consider myself an Austrian, is actually value free. That is, Austrians really don't have to be capitalists and many aren't.

The school is entirely about methodology: many (some Austrians say all) economic behavior should be studied deductively from the axiom that "all humans act."

Many prominent and vocal Austrians are anarcho-capitalists, but these things aren't synonymous.

Two different positions which would probably keep you busy are:

Free banking: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Free_banking

Mutualist banking: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mutuali...#Mutual_credit
