still waiting for the “teargarden by kaleidyscope song cycle based on the fool’s journey of the tarot” to be completed over here.

i am utterly shocked that it failed.

Wut duz sp2 mean?

Marchin On is literally only good thing on Shiny, the rest throw in the bin.

Zeitgeist looks much better with time because of shit of the last 2 albums and the Teargarden crap and who knows what else.
Orchid, Gossamer, Starz, That's The Way, Superchrist, United States, Tarantula and the American Gothic EP. Could maybe even chuck in Neverlost also.

Man, for a second there I thought you meant that Marchin On was figuratively the only good song on the album.

Thanks for the clarification!

Zeitgeist - The whole thing is great (I'm a Zeitgeist Truther)
MTAE - Tiberius, Dorian are good. Monuments (the song) is good + the peak of WPCs "strange lover" era.
Shiny V1 - Alienation (that's right), Silvery Sometimes. Marchin' On isn't really a good song but...

Seriously though, for me these are decent SP2 songs:

Quasar
Pox
Superchrist
Glow
Gossamer
99 Floors
Stellar
Sunkissed
One and All
My Love Is Winter
Violet Rays
Alienation
Astral Planes
Lightning Strikes
Owata
Doomsday Clock
Bring The Light
Tarantula

most of Zeitgeist, imo, is at least good. Stellar & Ma Belle I'd argue are great
Sunkissed is good
Tom Tom from Teargarden may be the only thing I'd still vouch for (tho at the time everyone was convinced Stitch in Time was some great achievement)
Oceania about half is at least decent, maybe one or two good/borderline very good
Tiberius is one of the best things he's done in SP2, then Anus!, One + All, Monuments & Dorian are good
new one has Silvery Sometimes, With Sympathy, Marchin' On - Solara woulda been good if they just recorded it live tbh, 'cause the live versions I've heard of that one kill the Rubin desecration that's on the record

Let's see:

Tarantula
United States
Neverlost
For God and Country
Stellar
Pox
A Stitch in Time
Lonely is the Name
Violet Rays
Oceania
Glissandra

Even the best songs are ruined by the vocals.

There'd be many, many more songs on these lists if he'd sung them the old way.

And the two WPC albums would've been great with Obscured-style singing.

The singing is the problem with SP 2, not the songs, or the drums.

Hey! Fuck off with the “fat teenager” shit! Poor Mike.

If he looked chubby to you, in pictures, that was surely just babyfat, anyway, which he promptly worked off with all that sweating behind the kit

Zeitgeist remaster. I still firmly believe there are good songs in there fucked over by ridiculous production choices such as burying Jimmy on what is probably his best recorded album, and replacing guitars with absurd Billy choirs

And of course as others have pointed out, stuff like Superchrist and Gossamer that aren't even on the album, or Stellar being a Best Buy or Target or whatever the fuck store exclusive

And of course it's just been downhill from there. Teargarden was unequivocally the nadir of Billy's career trajectory, and he hasn't even reached Zeitgeist levels since then

Rose March too. Possibly his best song post 2007, ruined by ridiculous clones of himself

OK so out of all the SP2 songs, Violet Rays is the only one I'm confident saying is a good song without any qualifiers.

Like Bleeding the Orchid is good, but the Billy choir...
Tarantula is good but it's choppy and awkward
Tiberius is good but lacks punch

Violet Rays is just good
