Anyone else holding out for some secret warm-up show at the metro or 930 club or something?

I still say we get a bunch of netphorians in Darcy-Billy text quote t-shirts together to form a resistance coalition in the front row of one of these shows.

Face value of £69, fucking fees. Anyway, other comparable shows at the same venue:

Slayer - £55
Def Leppard - £55
Snow Patrol - £55
Nightwish - £35

Edit: None of the above have "Gold Circle Standing" they're all general admission, so if you want to be anywhere near the front for SP, it's £95.

Yeah, fuck you Billy.

If you're a O2 customer you can buy the tickets from their website.

To be fair, all those bands are garbage. Pumpkins lack of general admission is par for the shit-course that is trying to enjoy this band.

Maybe, but they (well, not Snow Patrol) are older acts with a large legacy fanbase, and this shows the regular standing ticket price for this kind of event is far below what the Pumpkins are charging, and that's not even taking into consideration the Gold Circle bullshit. The sad thing is, I'm probably still going to pay it. Gotta see this trainwreck before version 198797 implodes...

Honest question though.

Would you rather shell out double the money to be guaranteed to sit near stage or show up to a venue 8 hours in advance for that guarantee while paying half?

Holy crap. Phew! For a second there I thought Billy had crossed into the ultimate delusion.

On a side note, I’m sure Live Nation or whoever have crunched the numbers on how many people to expect in each city.

Which means: up to 11000 in London and 13000 in Bologna. At a two cities Europe-trip.

Compared to the thirty cities with up to 20000 in North America looking very humble...

Hey, if you wanna relieve your 90's glory days, The Smashing Pumpkins are the only ticket in town!

Believe me, people are going to pay.

Billy, the asshole that he is, is smart enough to realize this. He's selling out to the max because he has so few 90's competitors left to call him out on it and make a big deal of it.

I'm kinda sad that a Dave Grohl or a Eddie Vedder hasn't come out and ripped Billy for his bullshit with this new tour. Someone has to hold these alt-rock legends accountable.

Oh well, at least Stephen Malkmus called out his shit.

It's kind of sad when Def Lepard has the integrity to play for a general admission floor, yet the "grunge-gods" The Smashing Pumpkins wanna pillage you for each row.

If anyone is looking to this SP tour for artistic integrity, they're barking up the wrong tree.

"The" Smashing Pumpkins are doing their victory lap... A big cash-out tour to complete their legacy.

If anyone thinks Iha and Jimmy are gonna be progressing forward with Billy 5 years from now, they're dreaming.

You reiterate the same point once a week.

We get it. You don't think an artist should sellout or go back on his or her word, or whatever.

Isn't Grohl doing kinda the same thing?

FF actually has more integrity than SP at this point, despite being so bland

______

Honestly, maybe it was more fun watching the ungodly chaos Billy imparted on us than if they followed the FF model

Maybe they are just nice people who don’t go around trashing people in the press constantly. Unlike Billy.

Hell no. Grohl was forced to start from scratch and created his own thing for the love of the music and he consistently sells out enormodomes without having to resort to gimmickry.

Say what you want about the music, but it's not as though Corgan has put out anything better in the last 20 years.

Didn't Malkmus cash in with a Pavement reunion tour?

That's different. Malkmus had the full original lineup, no more no less. There was no one left out, no random guys added.

Pavement in their peak didn't make a lot of money. It wasn't till about 10 years after they broke up that their reputation started growing in a huge way. In that sort of scenario, I think it's perfectly acceptable for an artist to reunite and give fans a chance to see the band and then put it to rest.

It's obviously an entirely different scenario for Billy Corgan. Billy Corgan was huge from the get go and has been touring around in The Smashing Pumpkins for over 10 years now. It's just fucking cheap at this point, and if he want's to do a reunion, the least he could do is do something interesting... Not the same neutered and watered down versions of MCIS and Siamese Dream cuts.

Honestly, I had hope that the reunion would kick ass. I thought maybe he'd get his voice together with everything on the line, but honestly, he sounds worse than ever.

You're telling me that Foo Fighters have been more boring and bland over the past 20 yeas than Billy Corgan?

Everyone snuffs up their nose at Foo Fighters output, but really, Billy Corgan has been even more brutal... At least over the past 18 years.
