there's probably a part that breaks after that milestone

There's a lot of broken parts but none of them essential (so far). Here's hoping

you should take it into a trusted mechanic so they can give an appraisal of its wear & tear, thats why it has that sticker about service

lots of cars have an annoying light that comes on instead

The sticker is from the mechanic. It's when to go back for an oil change which as far as I know, is not a leg pull. Mike's car runs on dreams. It's a 2000 Civic DX standard 5 speed with aftermarket sunroof and originally meant for the Canadian market so it's in KM.

The mechanic missed a 0 so I'll sharpie it on and we'll deceive more people into thinking miles even though 250k miles is an accomplishment for a car that received the most basic of care

I've never been to a mechanic and "agreed" on a price beforehand, just gotten an estimate. the final price is going to depend on the labor and shit. I know it's going to be at least 500 dollars. I also have a bad ball bearing which is a serious issue and has to get addressed

i've always agreed on at least a price range, usually an exact price. only when a screw got stripped out of my engine and i needed belts and shit replaced did i have an estimate that wasn't exact.

they might find something else when they inspect but they'll ask me but this only happened like once or twice

do you take your care to a dealer? I have never taken my car anywhere except grotey little garages where my dad knows someone

but his job is to move cars in and out of body shops and mechanics for a rental company so I just trust whatever he tells me to do

oh well if you're getting an inside track like that you're probably getting a much better deal based on actual labor than mine that is probably based on over-inflated estimated labor

i try to go to this one place but they are not open on weekends when i tend to have problems of course. i'm going to switch to the car place that did my body work, they were awesome and are at least open saturday morning. i would not go to a dealer unless it was for a recall. the last time i got brakes i did it at a chain and i regret it, i got charged too much and they had a pressure problem and basically failed on me two days later. they would stop but the pedal went all the way down literally to the floor

an estimate is the price you agree on before you start the repairs

from what i understand this is always a ripoff & luxury cars have warranty clauses that force you to use their overpriced repairs

i have a shop here in town that i've been going to for years, they don't have the lowest price but they have the honest & friendly staff and they are punctual & have treated me good and even given me free looksees

You got this It's hard being honest, but it feels much better and he can't help you unless you are. But being untruthful and then owning up to it is part of the process, you didn't do anything wrong.

Fair to good, I'd say. My hearing is improved because of the steroids but I also want to eat everything in sight. I have the GRE psychology subject test in two days. Starting to get a bit anxious.

How about you, qwerty?
