i've got the lines "always fade, always die, i give you, flowers of blood" stuck in my head but i changed them slightly to "always fade, always die, i give you, flowers of BUD"

lol

a couple songs have catchy parts, but the songs sound crowded on and they go on and on

I like Bloodflowers despite the criticism and the whole idea that it sounds like self-parody. Finally, we agree on something, Took.

It's impossible to suggest albums based in having listened to Head on the Door only, though. I'd explore based on mood, as someone else said before, but Faith, Wish and Disintegration are definitely the best to begin with, I think.

yeah, swine of the queen, bloodflowers is indeed good. i'm new to cure so i had no idea about the self-parody thing and that is perfectly fine by me.

in related news, boy was i wrong about faith. i just relistened to it. wow. so fucking good. really similar to pornography, which is my fav.

Listen to In Your House off Seventeen Seconds and picture a young Billy thinking nobody will find out if he takes heavy inspiration from it.

Funny I was listening to something else the other day and thought that they stole the drowning man beat. But I can't remember what the song was. I guess it has a pretty distinctive beat, though they probably stole it from something else.

Bloodflowers is one of the most underrated albums of all time

It's the sound of getting old, desperation, gloom, acceptance, and resignation. It's beautifully morose in a way that's different from the other Cure albums.

Cracks my top 5 of their output.

I absolutely hated Bloodflowers when it came out. Found it loud, unpleasant, painful to listen to, and interminably boring. I've come to appreciate it more with occasional revisits and now I genuinely enjoy it a fair bit. It's not an album for teens.

this is how I'd rate their catalog:
1. Disintegration
2. Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me
3. Pornography (would probably rate it 2 but it's so dark I can't listen to it all the time)
4. Wish
5. Faith
6. Seventeen Seconds
7. The Head On the Door
8. The Top (underrated)
9. Bloodflowers (great abum it's just that there's eight other classics ahead of it)
10. Wild Mood Swings (people make it out to be some terrible album and it's not)
