I like the detached vocals for Doomsday Clock or even 7 Shades. I couldn't imagine him screaming. That would not be cool.

that may be partially true for some of Adore but Machina was a totally different thing. he wasn't just spinning the wheels on M he was satirizing his own band, & still close enough to the actual experiences to do it really fuckin' well

What the Zeitgeist songs needed was 2 years of touring and refining, testing in front of live audiences, throwing out stuff that didn't resonate, improving on stuff that did. Then we'd have an album with Gossamer. Still wouldn't fix the stark vocals and bad production choices. Zeitgeist is an album of ideas that aren't fully fleshed out but might have become great songs. It's like if the gravity demos were an album (which honestly would still have been better than Zeitgeist)

I like it though the production isn’t my fave. Some of the tunes are as good as anything else SP 1.0 did

Listen to the youtube vid of all live versions, it's really good. Studio production killed the album as usual nowadays..

The only one you could even make a comparison with is Oceania I think, but Zeitgeist is superior.

for all the shit Zeitgeist gets for its "production" it sure does have the coolest sounds, though some might have better songs here & there

other albums beat it on "oh!!! oh oh!"s, "whoa aaa oh oh ooh"s and of course "strange lover"s which Zeitgeist completely lacks

it shreds.

United States is one of my fav. songs

I listen to live Zeitgeist more than the record, though.

What’s the consensus on the Zeitgeist artwork? Honestly I never liked it. SP 2007 onwards hasn’t had the best art in my opinion. I actually thought MtaE was decent in that regard, the art had a bit of a Gish or Pisces sorta vibe.

I like the Linda Strawberry photo-illustrations of Jimmy and WPC. I like the DIY style and find them quite charming. No hats or costumes or poses just a couple of guys in a band.

I don't hate the Robocop advert style photos of Paris Hilton, etc.
