I think you mean Billy assassinated James' character and James is willing to work with him.

I'd like to think that D'arcy knows her power in this negotiation and is treating Billy like she would a used car salesman -and I don't think Billy can afford to let her walk away.

I'll give a 75% chance that Live Nation forces Billy to either increase her paycheck for the original offer, or allow her to actually play bass on the tour.

I'M CALLING IT

Yes. D’Arcy is a keen business woman who has been out of the music industry for 19 years by choice. She has a ton of leverage after living off savings for almost two decades.

That’s logical.

She knew Billy needed money.
She knew her involvement would boost sales considerably.
She's been living her own life for 20 years.

He needs her more than she needs him.

Uh, no. The tour might not be gangbusters, but let’s see D’arcy sell 7,500 tickets in 30 cities by herself. I’ve said it 80 was times on this board: adding D’arcy would have minimal impact on the tour. Most people dont even know they’re touring again, let alone who is in the lineup.

We don't know for sure, but it definitely wouldn't hurt.

I think it's like you've said before 'Cannon; D'arcy would've changed the media narrative completely.

I guarantee every media article about this tour will mention D'arcy not being involved. It'll be patently obvious to even casual observers that this reunion is just another Billy Corgan bait n' switch.

One could actually make the argument that the tour has gotten more media exposure without D’arcy than it would have with her, thus increasing sales.

The D'arcy feud has promoted the tour more, but it's also further exposed to casual fans that she won't be there. If they ended up working it out with her and she joined the tour then you'd be right, they'd have gotten all the media hoopla but with her eventually actually joining the tour. But more than anything it's shed a light on the fact that she won't be there to fans who might just see a tour poster and hear there's a Pumpkins reunion, and who may have bought tickets believing they were seeing an entire original lineup reunion if she'd kept her mouth shut. It probably has helped draw in some fans, but I'm not sure if it can overall be seen as a net positive.

Casual fans don’t care about D’arcy. They’re casual.

Yes they do. Her image was a key part of the image of the band, and part of the nostalgia for the band. This isn't Eric Avery not being part of a Jane's Addiction tour, this is one of the few big females of the Grunge era.

“Honey, want to see the Smashing Pumpkins?”
“Is that the Rat in a Cage band?”
“Yes, and 1979. They had the bald guy and the female bassist.”
“The what?”
“The female bassist. M’arcy? I think?”
“I don’t know. Maybe? Are we out of cream cheese?”

"I read on that fabulous website Alternative Nation that the female bassist won't be there. Let's save our money for Radiohead tickets."

OMG - DArcy is out. 99,99 per cent of all people don´t even know her. Some pumpkin fans are disappointed that she is not in, but , come on - who really gives a warm shit?

Release a good single, and nobody will cry for darcy

Plenty of female fans gravitated towards D'arcy as an iconic woman in alternative rock.

p. solid playlist actually IMO

too bad he hasn't listened to new music since the early 90s. I suspect the fact that he stopped consuming new stuff is part of why he is so out of touch and uninspired musically now
