I was bored at work today so I went to cbs.com and watched Florida play. Really wish I could do that with the NFL without having to pay a million dollars.

i know texas isn't getting to sweet sixteens all the time but it is of Quaternary importance to the athletic department i'm sure they spend more money on the swimming team barnes gets the most possible out of texas basketball. sure you could probably get somoene like billy donovan to do a better job but is texas going to pay bill donovan to coach their team? No. they are well coached, well run, and they just don't have a lot of top flight talent that doesn't leave after a year (aldridge/durant superteam that never was) |

I know they'd lose, Michigan is infinitely better. That's the issue, Barnes can't coach what he recruits and when he doesn't recruit he coaches enough to get them to be average. It's infuriating with all the talent how they've underperformed with him there. This season I didn't think they'd win 14 ganes, but then they do so he'll be back. Woo.

i mean seriously if aldridge stayed one extra year it would have been aldridge/durant/augustin.
as it stood aldridge never played with either of them and durant/augustine were just freshmen when they played together. i wouldn't blame barnes for that but you know whatever, maybe it is time to make a change and he can go on to some MVC school and do really well and texas will hire a piece of shit like tom penders and go back to being completely irrelevant |

i kind of feel like the experience barnes had with aldridge & durant made him balk at recruiting top NBA prospects coming out of high school
because it's not like he hasn't done it all i know is that there are more texas NBA players than ever and two of them are possible hall of famers, really the only question is whether or not they will be able to stay healthy for another 5-6 years because we all know durant is the absolute shit but LMA is really fucking good besides and DJ's playing really well now, of all people PJ Tucker seems to have emerged as the next bruce bowen, and royal ivey even still kicks around on deep benches because he can play defense. and TJ Ford was a fantastic player whose career was cut short by catastrophic injury |

i thought they were really well coached and played really smart basketball against AZ state. Felix is a bit of a gunner and pretty inefficient but i was really impressed with their defensive skill and ridley down low. he just knows where to go on the court for rebounds, and given that he doesn't have NBA talls he'll be here until senior year probably i think this squad next year should be a top seed and a sweet 16 finalist. if he doesn't get there, well then maybe you got a point but i still think that this is about as good as texas basketball gets. nobody gives a fuck about texas basketball. |

it's amazing after the long weeks of texas football mania to see it fall off like it does, people don't even talk about texas basketball or watch it on tv
i'm telling you, the AD spends more money on swimming and track then they do on basketball. i think even baseball is a higher priority. |

Baseball for sure, though Disch-Falk's field is an abortion IMO so I wish they'd fix it up right.
With the drum not long for this world since the land is being taken by the hospital, maybe the new arena can build some hype. |
