Default The Last Song appreciation thread

Top notch lyrics/atmosphere.

Rather this be on MCIS than some of the other acousticky stuff.

If you post an appreciation thread, at least stop being so selfish and post the song

I haven't heard this song in forever, and I've always loved it.

If The Last Song was on MCIS, Rotten Apples should have been on it too...

It's a good B-Side. I used to really love the song 10-15 years ago, but it just falls flat for me when I hear it now.

I think Beautiful is a better fit on the album than this, TuralyonW3. The first half of Beautiful has that oddness that really fits in well with songs like We Only Come Out at Night. The last half does the 70's rock thing really well.

I do realize that I'm wrong about this. And everything else I've posted.

"Beautiful" is the best song on MCIS.

No.

It's one of the worst.

The proper acoustic version they did during the MCIS tour would be up there though.

I think Beautiful fits better on the album, but Last Song is a superior song. It's really great. Great atmospherics, moving lyrics, and old man heroin on that strat. mmm

I don't get how or why people could possibly prefer the "stripped down" acoustic versions of songs like Beautiful or For God and Country to the much more interestingly textured studio versions.

I don't know how anyone could prefer any version of For God and Country to anything

Beautiful sounds like an awkward mix of trip hop / electronica and Beatles influenced stuff. It just doesn't flow well.

Agreed. I'll always have a soft spot for it, but it's a bit gimmicky, and it gets old.

Beautiful and Lily are much better suited for MCIS than this one, no doubt.

Lily is like Every Breath You Take. A pop song on the surface but with creepy stalkerish lyrics.
