(And speaking of badly mangled lyrics, "the Jackals lick their balls" has nothing on "imma jack off horses, woncha bury me". Can't unhear it) I just always loved WOCOAN. When MCIS came out, Billy was at his peak of crafting atmosphere through song. And that one just oozes personality. It's just this sweet little ditty about being an outsider goth kid, happy and comfortable with who you are. Made me smile. |

Quiet is kinda eh no?
not a 10 outta 10 then before mentioned Spaceboy what about Sweet Sweet I'm just saying it's not that much more consistent than MCIS it's just more samey and isn't Disarm kinda jarring and out of place on this album |

Hell no fool quiet is BADASS and Disarm is gorgeous.
Today and Spaceboy are the duds Sweet sweet is well sweet. Also Jacking Off Horses would make a great band name. |

I'd say these albums are overrated compared to the best material they were capable of
something like STRTJ is what has aged the best for me |

Today is not even close to being a dud. Perfect single, perfect song and gave the band some much needed success at the time. Spaceboy and Sweet Sweet could go and I wouldn't mind. Would replace with Drown, Whirr or Apathy's Last Kiss (could actually really see this one working well in the context of the album).

Quiet is amazing. So are Spaceboy and Today. I love every single song on SD.

Spaceboy is such a comforting song. I even love the demo.
Obscured <33 Whir is amazing too. PI is very underrated. My favourite track off it has to be Plume. |

Spaceboy I'm not the biggest fan of but it's definitely not a bad song. The lyricism was impressive on the track but about halfway through I usually end up just getting bored. Given the opportunity I'd 100% replace it with Drown or Obscured, but that's not to say it's a poor song. Just don't think it belonged on SD.

I don't think it's overrated, by golly gee, but it seems to get it's due credit. Even outside of this community.

on some days i'd even dare to venture it's better than SD
and when i'm really feelin hot takes, i'm going "you know, this is better than any of their other real albums". i'd be very hard pressed to think of another band who produced such high quality music on such a consistent basis for that long of a period. even their b-sides are PROPER a-sides, like the good songs on the a-side. hkk, frail and bedazzled? that shit is on par and exceeds some of SD, i mean they're certainly better than Quiet at the very least. then you have obscured, la dolly vita. so many good songs and such good flow on a throwaway song collection. crazy. |

Boris had maybe one or two decent albums. Pink and Noise. The rest is noisy bullshit.
Also, HUM - You'd Prefer An Astronaut = just as good as SD. |

but PI is basically on par with SD, considering when like half the songs were written. I think it has a few more throwaway tracks, though. SD is my SP holy grail though, so I'm quite biased. |
