Ready Player One - 3/5
It was better than I was led to believe, but the references really felt forced and became annoying at a point. The Shining sequence was kinda charming tho. I expected worse. Extinction - 2/5 I wanted to like this film cause I thought the idea was interesting. Unfortunately the execution was pretty terrible. I like Michael Peña a lot from other films I saw him in, but he felt very misused in this as was Lizzy Caplan. Netflix really feels like is going for a direct-to-video feel with their newest feature films. |

I watched all 5 Twilight movies in a row on Saturday and my brain still hurts and I feel like I've had a hallucinogenic journey and feel a need to apologize to everyone.

if you want to see K Stew in a good film check out Personal Shopper and Clouds of Silas Maria. She's also good in American Ultra but it's not very good film |

The Mist
Half-baked plot, bad CGI, and a pointlessly depressing ending. This one was a winner! Stephen King has such bad taste in movies made after his own stories, though I guess it only took knowing which one he considered to be the "good Shining" to figure that out |

People to this day still throw chess pieces at the beach where that was filmed.

arrival - thoroughly engrossing, original, unique, creative, beautifully shot, undeniably well written though not without imperfections, emotionally therapeutic. thought provoking. far exceeded my expectations.

Has anyone seen Ant Man and The Wasp yet? What'd you think? I love the MCU and I've been waiting to watch it but I couldn't get around to it. Marvel has had a great track record thus far.

Ant-Man and the Wasp was pretty good, better than the first.
Deadpool 2 was pretty much the same as the first one, they just beat you over the head with jokes a lot more frequently. I thought it was annoying. Black Panther is one of the best superhero movies so far, alongside Infinity War. |

really? i dug it.
human characterization of aliens nearly always seems to revolve around a human axis, or should i say a fundamentally human image, and i really appreciated how in this film the aliens really did feel completely otherworldly, like something that developed and evolved in entirely different surroundings than what is known to us, and that we as humans can't fully wrap our heads around them as a result of that. also, coincidentally, i'd read that the alien design was influenced by spiders, whales, elephants, octopuses - and that makes perfect sense, although it's not immediately obvious when watching the film. a strange blend between being scary, repulsive, fascinating, and beautiful. |
