Oh shit, Billy playing the long game here, goddamn

Also I always read the line as "The soft pouring rain was just the pouring rain, it wasn't me" (one line) as though he's learned to associate the weather with his internal struggles

Maybe that's obvious to everyone, but the way you broke up the lines gave me pause

Was at the show.

All the new songs were painful besides I think the first one.

AMAZING to hear Ugly, Wound and ENDLESS SUMMER!!! He also played Disarm on piano.

I've taped the entire show but will upload it tomorrow.

The 2nd song in he was stopped playing the song 2 or 3 times and said "Talk or listen, I'm here to play". He seemed so dickish but really lightening up just even 5 songs later. Some good band and the good odd story.

I'm not sure, but to me it feels like he is referencing the kind of good vibes/being in love trope of "endless summer" but now he's trapped in it and wants it to end because the relationship has turned out bad

Quote:
There used to be a time that i believed
The soft pouring rain was just the pouring rain
It wasn't me, but every new light that isn't shiny and bright
Will suspend the storms and the clouds in sight

Of an endless summer
An endless summer
An endless summer to be home
There used to be a time I enjoyed the summer as being carefree, and as the storm weather as being part of it and exciting, but now it's depressing (relating the actual storm clouds as matching his depression)

Quote:
Once there was a chance that i believed you
A kiss was just a kiss
No matter how i missed you
Shine a light on me
Say a prayer for the relief
she was always there despite their distance at times, and that there would always be that relationship even if they had other lovers
but now it's over and the time he used to have together with her is painful because he's alone

Quote:
Did we go on too long
Did we listen too close
To a youth built strong
With things children shouldn't know

And the fall out from your third degrees
Of broken chairs and of pedigrees
Where the sons kill sons, and the daughters stay wise
'cause when we rule, everybody dies
it was an unrealistic relationship/idea of a relationship and all that could happen in the end is they both got hurt

The first verse is gorgeous:
I think it's "every new lie that's dusted shiny and bright" though

Whoa that's so different to what I would say!!!

I take it as meaning the Endless Summer is a big pop distraction that makes you forget your troubles, but is ultimately spiritually empty.

SOMEONE GET ON IG AND ASK BILLY

there's some concert from the SD tour where they finish a song and Billy sarcastically thanks the crowd because "that song was meant to be talked over"

who knows, maybe that was in the same venue too!

...so regarding the Hamburg show yesterday:

Billy was pissed off about the audience pretty much the whole evening.

He didn't start songs a couple of times and just stood there...waiting.

The audience cheered hard between the songs but many just didn't shut up when he played.

At some point Billy said that he would have told more stories if people were listening (he only told one story).

He also didn't play Blue Skies Bring Tears (it was on the setlist) because of the audience.

I just don't get why people pay for a ticket to an acoustic show like that only to talk the whole time.

The employees at the bar were fucking disrespectful. I couldn't believe how loud they were during the show...listen to the noise in the beginning of this video:

What exactly is the line-up of this solo tour, Corgan, Jeff and Katie? (Obviously haven't watched any videos.)

This sucks. I don’t understand these people either, go to a Counting Crows picnic concert on the lawn if you want to use it as background entertainment to your talks. The thing about the choice of venue not being a problem is simply wrong, though. There is no way to get bartenders to care, correct. But there are plenty of music venues that don’t have the bar in the same hall as the stage, especially in Europe. So picking any of those venues takes care of that particular problem. For this, Elbphilharmonie, for example, the halls of the Laeiszhalle have the right capacity – and no bar.

Well yea, that’s what happens at nearly every acoustic gig (and others) I’ve ever been to. It shouldn’t be up to the person onstage.
I saw the In Plainsong tour and ended up behind a group of people who were so loud that I couldn’t even tell which song he played. I wanted to hear the gig, so yes, I asked them to turn it down a notch (didn’t help much but a bit).
At the recent SP gig in Berlin I was on the receiving end, rightfully. We were a group of 14 people, some who hadn’t seen each other in over a decade. We were talking. Guy in front of us around 50 rocking an Infinite Sadness tour shirt, turned around and went “Do you see this shirt? I haven’t seen them in over 20 years. So could you. kindly. shut. the. fuck. up.” It was embarrassing and I felt bad, we had ruined two songs for that guy and a few other people standing next to us.
Worst ever was Nick Cave last year in Berlin. We had flown in to see the gig, and then had two guys sitting in front of us, checking their phones and discussing the opening prices at the Tokyo Stock Exchange – during “Into my Amrs”, of all songs. I was ready to cry really.
So yes, if you are annoyed by people who use a concert as a place to talk nonstop, tell them to shut the hell up.

or stab them in the ear with a knitting needle.
when they later find them dead on the floor with blood streaming from their ears, you can blame it on not using earplugs.

Good call, but knitting needles don't fit into my purse, do you know if there are foldable knitting needles available?

These talkers are even worse at classical concerts. Went to Riccardo Muti conducting Verdi Friday night. And was next to two ladies with their phones out, reading wikipedia tidbits about Riccardo Muti and Verdi to each other. Knitting needles would have been perfect, I was mad as hell.
