I mean I tend to separate his views on trans folk from his support for Trump.

It would be easier to stick up for him when he voices his support for Trump if he didn't also have strong and problematic, hurtful opinions about trans people.

I don't think those two things are necessarily linked.

This thread has sadly strayed off track. It is about Fuzzy vs Fulltoked. And I have a waaaaay better man-mane than he does. There. That settles it. When I wake up I fully expect my votes to be in the low thousands.

With the trans thing, actually a lot of what he posts is worth considering - like hormone therapy for children, for example, has a lot of bioethical dilemmas surrounding it. SO it's not even the opinion, it's how firmly he holds it, when there is no evidence one way or the other (because of the lack of longitudinal studies tracking children who were given hormone therapy, etc.)

And of course it's incr inconsiderate to bring up that stuff at a forum where trans people are known to read and post

I am really struggling to see this overall good character some of you are painting around fuzzy, because "friendly" does not mean morally good to me and I think that's a pretty shallow moral judgement

when has this guy actually shown himself to be a compassionate, thoughtful person who wants to help others? he's a huge dick. and at least a lot of the time, it's on purpose. not everyone can be "saved" by being nice and patient with them.

For me it's all about distinguishing people from their behaviors

I will try hard not to judge/condemn fuzzy or people who think like him; as much as it hurts to see what's happening here, I try not to "bully" anyone for advancing abhorrent leaders/worldviews. Because bullying, I think, is one of the fundamental traits of trumpism that makes it abhorrent

But I think we are entitled to consistently and loudly express our dismay at fuzzy's behavior, and there's a difference b/w bullying and shunning

IMO if I am consistent and firm in my shunning, the polarization becomes the other's choice. The door is always open for them to embrace empathy, reject hate, to change
