I said I never really got into them.

I never said anything else about them as far as I remember. I probably do need to get into them.
My thoughts on Wire are probably the same as your thoughts on The Fall.

I love me some Smiths.

I wish more of these "hipster" bands had a little more of that effeminate flair, Morrissey style.

Almost all of my favorite bands formed in the 80s and got bigger in the 90s...does that make me hipster?

I genuinely love that period of music history but I enjoy some new bands that take what I like to a new level.

I was like the only kid in high school that was listening to Soundgarden but I wasn't posin' or rebeling against the current music at the time. I just identified with those bands in a weird way and I truly loved them.

I'm glad I ventured out though and found some newer artists that just blow me away.

oh, yeah. forgot about that.

also, i caught ty segall a couple of times in nyc last year on the sleeper tour. after playing sleeper start to finish, he played a bunch of older songs. it was the most rocking acousitc set i've ever seen by far.

if you notice the rest of us don't have such a narrow genre restrictive taste

even fuzzy has an edge over you in that regard

1) i never picked up on what was so special about kurt vile
2) not really comparable with ty, they go about it from two different angles. kurt's way more chilled out
3) of course you'd say the most obscure one is better than the more well known ones

i've always thought that no age was a little more modern-rock sounding compared to sic alps' classic 60s pop structure, in terms of actual song construction.

yea kurt vile is a total folkie at heart, though

a lot of the core groups are from around san francisco - i think when you get down to it, though, it's just garage pop (60s style) and nothing more sophisticated than that. not that that's a bad thing.

i've just always been a little sad that sic alps never got the recognition ty segall and no age did. mike donovan blueprinted that sound, man.
