That particular Imagine Dragons song is a nightmare cause it sounds like some Men At Work grade bullshit but the pitchshifted hook in the chorus goes hard.

Also, I heard the fucking Macerena today for the first time in like a decade, so I guess that also deserves a spot on this list. Fuck that song forever.
Dude I didn't know that Kirk Hammett was in LMFAO

I think it's more Adam Levine as a concept than the song but fuck that song too.

"smooth" is a great nomination as it's probably the most annoying song of all time. 90% of my anger in life is directly related to that song and how much it was played especially when it first came out. Mambo #5 too. I'm pissed I even have to type it out.

About the time I fell in love with the music that influenced me heavily as a youth, Napster happened coinciding with the rise of teeny bopper bullshit, TRL, the rapid decline of rock music, etc.

I'll never get over this nor forgive the music industry for taking a giant shit on my youth. I could list shitty songs all day on here.

Oh God yes. Fuck that song. That was one I meant to add to my list but forgot. That guy looked like the biggest douche in the video too.

For real. I feel like so much of the decline of rock music can be attributed to TRL. The rise of all of those stupid boy groups (I refuse to call them boy bands because none of those fuckwits played instruments) and the surge of god-awful rap metal trash like Limp Bizkit and Kid Rock was largely due to MTV turning music into a fucking popularity contest. People would call in every day to hear 15 seconds of their favorite songs.

Also, hot take on MTV. You can blame MTV for Trump. Think about it; The Real World was the first "reality" show out there and it blew up, leading MTV to produce more shithouse reality style shows like Road Rules and Pregnant Teenagers or whatever it's called, and less and less music. Other stations realized they were on to something and started producing their own stupid reality shows, since having cameras follow real life assholes around all day is easier than scripting actual drama and comedy shows. This led to Survivor, which led to The Apprentice, which led to millions of simple-minded asshats believing that Trump was this uber-successful businessman, which led to him becoming president.

Reality TV destroyed the world. And perhaps it all could have been avoided if MTV just kept playing fucking music videos.

"Echo Beach" - Martha and the Muffins
"Mama Let Him Play" - Jerry Doucette

I keep hearing this song at work that goes like "you're the next Drew Barry, and I want mooOOOore," and that may be the worst lyric I've ever heard.

Remember when mainstream rock was good? Those were a good three-and-a-half non-consecutive years.

Yeah rockabilly is cool and is basically like sped up country

I could see you liking some of this shit, or not liking it, but some of my fav classic people are The Carter Family (like the original three when they were recording in the 30s), Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Townes Van Zandt, Emmylou Harris... there's a lot of good, seminal stuff out there, it's just dwarfed by the colossal amount of terrible country from every era after the whole corporate Nashville thing took off in I guess the early 60s.

But I also like a lot of more recent country/Americana inspired artists. I was looking up some videos of old country acts but quickly wound up just watching gillian welch play

Jeff Buckley's Cohen cover of Hallelujah

Also, most of his music. It's been played to FUCKING DEATH.

Normally I'd say I can't believe y'all are saying Wonderwall & Get What You Give when so many much worse things have come out of the past 2 decades. But then I remembered these songs, and guess I'm in a similar boat

Harvey Danger - Flagpole Sitta
Blind Melon - No Rain

Hallelujah is one of the most overused and overplayed songs of the last few decades, but I have never heard anything else he ever recorded outside my own home/car
