The solo sucks. It's just some lazy Joe Perry knock-off... And you know: for a solo to really have an impact it kinda has to fit the vibe of the song

It's kind of like when Dime-Bag laid down a ripping solo on some shitty Nickelback song cause he had fun partying with their lead singer. Sure: the solo might be bad ass on a Pantera banger, but it just sounded like shit on a Nickelback track.

The funniest part of Song for a song was all the fake British accents that Billy threw in. I refuse to re-listen to quote exact examples: but I recall him sounding hilarious during the "like a burrrrrrrrrrrrrtdddddddddd flown from the nest"

I disagree. When SP returned, what was being dubbed as EMO was HUGE and most of those bands admitted that SP was a huge influence. He could have easily dawned some eye-liner and milked that whole movement for his benefit, but he cranked up the amps and released a throwback-ripper. It was a ballsy move that I appreciated.

It's sonically (sp?) one of the best SP songs released since the "reunion". Really has an atmospheric wall of sound quality that would have made Zeitgeist great. And it's one of the tracks where the drumming really grooves and flows which was a treat to hear after all of the limp-wristed Byrne shit.

Plus: the bridge on Anti-Hero is one of the best moments on the record and is supper fitting to act as an album closer.

those songs are about on par with the better teargarden songs. totally forgettable and empty

I've still never listened to Monuments all the way through in one sitting. I have heard the whole thing, but even the first time I tried to listen there was a fair amount I had to fast forward through to confirm that nothing was actually going to happen in this song

Which is kinda sad since the album is only 30 minutes long. Such a forgettable piece of crap.

Yer nuts. Take One and All for example. Clearly Billy's best vocal performance since they reunited. He actually sounds like he's pouring it all out. And the guitar works some of the simple yet most expressive. If Corgan returned with that song during the reunion it probably would have been a big hit.

I mean, take Stitch in Time, Widow Wake my Mind and Astral planes and listen to Monuments... SERIOUSLY There's no comparison unless you're just trying to troll becuase the reunion didn't meet your expectations.

It ain't a masterpiece by any means, but I'd even go out on a limb and say it's the best work of the reunion.

I'm a Z fan and love the musicianship. But for overall listenability I'd say that Monuments struck the better chord. The production on it's great. Of course Z would crush it if it were produced in a similar manner, but that's not here nor there/

I said they were on par with the better songs from Teargarden, not the worst ones. Learn to fucking comprehend something god damn

and seriously it doesn't matter how good his vocal performance on X is (btw still shitty). the songs are emotionless shells. total bullshit album. he could have written these songs in an hour each.

and they are so repetitive he could have just recorded the first minute and a half of each and looped them to complete the songs

You really think it woulda taken him an hour to write those songs? Hell, I'm not entirely convinced he didn't write and record the entire album within an hour.

What better "songs" from TBK are you talking about? The only arguably somewhat good song is Tom-Tom and Freak is merely okay... The rest are cow manure. There's a handful of songs on Monuments that are exceedingly over par than TBK's 2 best.

You're just a jaded fan.

Definitely redbreegull.

He sure has big opinions on music that he has not listened to or half-remembers from skipping through it one time years ago.
