I actually forgot about Dorian (the tracks that worked their way into my realm were Tiberius, One and all, Anaise and Anti-Hero)... But when you consider the album, it's actually quite a far reaching and eclectic collection (the opposite is true with Ogilala). Sure, it's short and polished... But BC said himself that he was just coming with the haymakers... Felt no need for any filler (which Oceania has a ton of)... And plus, it was a treat to here Tommy Lee on the album after the numerous years with Byrne. |

I regrettably have said more than my fair share of ridiculous shit here during my journey into the abyss of severe alcoholism and recreational drug use... But if it's one thing I do know, it's the Pumpkins music. So I think whatever rambling I've done on that regard has been from an educated and truthful viewpoint.

Tiberius and Dorian, Tarantula, I love Winter, The Celestials, Tom Tom, Stitch in time and spangled are my favourite songs since machina 2. I don´t really like any of the post machina albums as a whole.
But for now I guess that Ogilala could be a grower |

RUBBISH from the production side, Mr. RUBIN:
Zowie: buzzing vibrato Processional: piano accents much too loud The Spaniards: yelling "take me as i am" with voice doubling, the synth beats and folklore effects Aeronaut: the endless vibrating "lovers won't you mourn with me" under a string wallpaper The Long Goodbye Half-Life Of An Autodidact: the psychedelic synth fog Amarinthe Antietam Mandarynne: strings too loud Shiloh: strings too loud Archer: buzzing voice effect "Processional" is my favourite track from the album. Good choice for contribution, JAMES IHA! Maybe he should have helped production wise too... Give it therefore 5/10 after a few listenings. Could have been up to 7 otherwise. |

I haven't read any of the comments as didn't want anything to influence my opinion but I have just listened through for the first time. This is really really good. I am very pleasantly surprised, my hopes had gone down hill a bit after Aeronaut was released. I do like that song but it was only average at best, maybe 6 or 7 out of 10. I have to say it is my least favourite track on the album. I cannot understand that choice as a leading single. Anyway, this is definitely the best post reunion work in my opinion except maybe for a couple of tracks on Oceania.

That other poster nailed it. I wouldn't be embarrassed to be heard listening to this album. The strings, guitar and piano suit Corgan's voice. There's a great string hook on Aeronaut. Loving The Processional. The Spaniard is growing on me. Currently The Long Goodbye and Half-Life are weak spots, but I'm 5-6 listens deep and still into it. |

Compare this to American Gothic, which attempted a similar style and was unlistenable. The production here is a million times better.
The local edgelords would be creaming themselves if Archer or half of these tracks had been unearthed on the Machina reissue. I'm not suddenly back in the WPC fanclub, I enjoyed MTAE but I was aware there was some awful shit on that album, whereas this is ... actually good. |

There's a few iffy bits but I agree it's a pleasant listen, expectations were not high after the single so I'm pleasantly surprised!
I think the appealing thing is that it sounds way less cynical than Monuments |

nah
TFE > Zeitgeist > Ogilala > Oceania > TbK > MTAE I don't even really like Zeitgeist but its highs are much higher than Ogilala (neverlost, starz bridge, parts of bleeding the orchid, pomp, and the b-sides). Its lows are also lower but I still find it hard to discount the highs |
