I love Rocket but there are so many all-time classic SP singles that are better...

I haven't heard of this song Disarm before.

Is it from Shiny and Bright (No Future. No God?)

sorry. rocket is pure psychedelic glory. that lead running through the whole thing. so effortless and so propulsive.

UGH

I just can’t imagine a top five list with no BWBW, TT, Today, or Disarm. It just feels wrong to me. Like you ripped one of the gospels out of the Bible.

Rocket > BWBW

I’m just saying a top five list without ONE of those tunes blows my mind.

ah tristessa is a good one.

and yeah it was hard not to in-clude tonite. that was the song that got me into the pumpkins.

perhaps i was a bit harsh on disarm. thinking back last night, i remembered listening to it for the first time. like someone said in this thread, i had never heard anything like it. quite a moving experience.

As much I hate on Billy here, I have to say honestly he shows incredible resilience and courage in turning his pain into art in “Disarm.”
Amen brother. There's been this "current rock" feed that plays at my work since they switched it over from the Christmas music. It's all real new charting stuff with a super small selection of a few older classics and Disarm is one of the songs that comes on... SP is actually well represented. I hear Disarm every day and I've also heard Tonight Tonight and Landslide... The only other old songs I hear are a few by the Chili Peppers and Beck and Low from Cracker lol... Oh they also play Praise You by Fatboy Slim haha. That's literally it for 90's groups.

Liam really weaves his voice in awesomely with Noels guitar work. Sounds dope.

Best 5 SP singles (as far as songcraft).

Tonight, Tonight
Disarm
Rocket
33
1979

tempted to put the everlasting gaze, but the excellent songwriting is overshadowed too much by the bad production choices and vocals. SIYL and rhinoceros are also honorable mentions.

rocket
soma
mayo
disarm
geek usa

like, those are unfuckwithable. tempted to put silverfuck and luna on there as well.

rocket has layers on layers on layers, it's phenomenal

BWBW is a great rock single but it doesn't stand the test of time

It sure does. It was literally on the radio as I was driving home this morning and I cranked that shit up. Always hits the spot. The "what have you GOTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT" part is literally a top 5 Corgan studio moment.

If you’re going to list “untouchables” for SD, keep it at top-3. Anything more, and you’re just typing out the track list because you can’t make a decision.

IMO, the 3 SD untouchables are:

Disarm
Soma
Geek USA

Mayonaise is a runner-up.
