When I buy lush stuff it lasts forever for me which is nice. I've found it is best to use soap sparingly in the winter especially. Is it so bad to want to smell nice, like spices and herbs and other botanics?

Bonnie I find it really impressive that you're so into botany. Can you suggest any plants that live in the winter or where to buy them? Looking for some windowsill plants to spruce up my apartment.

Houseplants? Tropical cacti, hoya, Davallia, Saintpaulia, Aeschynanthus, and orchids are my favorite. Basically the flowering non Araceae ones that are a little harder to find (although some phals, violts, and xmas/thanksgiving cactus are all easily found this time of year). Repot the phals into bark if you get them though and get the driest one that isn't rotting. They typically are
If you want useful plants then the only thing I have successfuly grown indoors, on a windowsill (+ full spectrum grow light is another story) is scallions |

Also grocery stores or home depot or any random place I guess. Houseplants are fun. They're not really like outside gardening at all.

Succulents and desert cacti hate being indoor plants so don't force them to be. The others will do well, even thrive all things considered. It is also worth mentioning that nearly all plants would benefit from being repotted in a looser and more well-draining soil in porous clay pots with drainage

Yeah man. Does it have pinkish hues because my island ancestors spilled their enemies entrails onto it too much?
I actually really like the colour though, and it would probably look good on my Samoan hands. |
