lol hat manufacturing

lately i've been becoming interested in introducing hats to my wardrobe. every time i wore a hat in the past i either did it as a joke, or felt like a douche.
but i mean, people wear hats, right? that could be kinda cool.
do you guys wear hats?

you know what this is actually a wardrobe thread. NOW WEARING

pants: long bright beige dockers (WURLD'S ON FIA)
shirt: thin striped grey t-shirt under a purple zipped hoodie that everybody else claims is blue

Black yoga pants, grey workout t-shirt, chucks (navy blue with white stars) and a navy cardigan. Mummy wardrobe

I only wear wide brimmed ladies sunhats now. I'm a 36 year old mother of two school aged children living in the suburbs, it's my burden.

I've heard people comment on good hair, but never on a good hat.

The latter may not exist.

A beanie can sometimes be a necessity on a very very cold day, but I never wore hats with any regularity.

Now wearing: pink pajama pants, old black t-shirt, gray sweatshirt wrapped in a blanket.

I'm also drinking tea, not feeling too good.

I pretty much never wear hats, unless it's a toque during cold weather.

I once experimented with a beret, otherwise known as the "fedora crêpe."

It got one compliment, but I felt awkward and try-hard as shit. One should probably never wear something that one isn't really comfortable in. I think there's some quote that goes like "a person should dress like they choose and put on their clothes with care, and then forgotten all about them." If you're really self-conscious and constantly primping, it harms the effect a little.

Probably don't need any hats that aren't purely utilitarian for protecting the head from heat or cold. Anything purely ornamental is pretty much in fedora territory. In high school, I once had an acquaintance who went into some "ska-guy" phase and wore a bowler hat. Maybe some people complimented it, but it's important to remember that they were also in high school.

i have hats for winter. i've a red one, a yellow one, a white/beige one, a pale pink one, black/grey striped one...and some others that have never made it into rotation. i need more colors such as a darker jewel-colored pink, navy blue, and perhaps something printed. i don't know...i just like options and it stays cold here for a long time.

It's kind of funny that anybody would look to me as an authority on clothes because I'm no sartorial genius myself.

I once went to a function where I met a friend of my coworker's, who just happened to be in a couple of my classes. He complimented my clothes and then started asking my about selvedge denim and who my favourite designers are. I've never bought a pair of jeans more than $60 and I don't buy designer clothes, I just shop mall-level stores and thrift shoppes.

The next time I saw him, he was all like, "check out my shirt, I got it from [this boutique in town] and only paid $70 for it." I was like, "good snatch!" but honestly, I don't pay $70 for shirts and I've never been to any boutique but that one I got a gift card for once.

I wear the fuck out of hats. I can't imagine not having stocking hats in winter, or a sun hat in summer. In college I used to wear one of those golf/newsboy hats into bars where it was neither sunny or wintry.

Not sure tho if chix really dug it or if it was actually my pecs they were so into.....

I'm don't have a fedora, but if I found one that looked correct on me I might be open to the possibility. it would have to clearly not be a trilby by any measure cause that shit is for hipsters and women in airports.

last winter I spent a lot of time in this faux-raccoon fur head garment I got at Kohl's for $15. I also have a military style cap from Vietnam I really like, but I'm always afraid some crazed Vietnam vet is going to freak out at me on the street for wearing the commie star on my head

my favorite hat ever was a leather cowboy hat that I used to go hiking/traveling in. It was a great hat, and people always commented on how cool it was. Unfortunately I had an emotional breakdown spending the night in JFK airport in NYC around 2 years ago and wound up leaving some stuff behind somewhere.

I collect fedoras, newsboys, flat caps and bowlers.

Borsalino is best for felt (unless you get a direct Locke & Co hat), for Panama you want Ecuadorian hand-woven straw

Good hats, like good suits, aren't cheap.

My Dad wears one of these. And panamas. But he's bald and in his 60s, so it's more of a healthcare thing. If he goes outside he has to cover his head, like for real.

I wish my husband would wear hats. But he's tall, white, attractive with good hair, so he just doesn't care about hats.

It's surprising really, given how cheaply one can buy good shoes.
