polaris - i really can't get into miracle legion or mulcahy's solo work very much, but polaris is just magnificent. the album of their collected songs is one of my favorite pop albums. just... go get it.

Led Zeppelin - Important, but not my cup of tea for everyday listening.

Rolling Stones - I like the singles.

Beatles - My childhood.

Ramones - Influential and fun. I don't really care about the influential part.

The Clash - I like what I've heard.

Green Day - Good, fun...they have more integrity then they're given credit for.

Weezer - I still enjoy the Blue Album but constantly want to punch Rivers Cuomo in the face...especially after reading that pathetic interview in Guitar World magazine.

Jimmy Eat World - Their new stuff is much better than they're given credit for by most hardcore music fans. Bleed American is a great album...you don't need to know anything about emo crap to like them. "Lucky Denver Mint," on the other hand, annoys the fuck out of me.

The Breeders - I'm ignorant.

The Pixies - Influential and all that rot...I like them, recognize the talent, but in general am annoyed by people who are like "Pixies, Pixies, Pixies!"

The Strokes - Eh. They're okay. I just want everyone to shut up about them.

Nirvana - I enjoy some of their stuff, but they're overrated, and were not nearly as influential on future music as they were believed to be, they just helped push what was already there into the mainstream. They rode the wave.

Pearl Jam - They have a few good songs, but in general are kind of annoying.

The Smashing Pumpkins - I don't know what to say about them objectively. They're to my adolescence as the Beatles are to my childhood. They weren't incredibly influential, but they were very influenced which is just as important, and they sounded cool as fuck. They'll always be a part of my life and have a special place in my heart

Red Hot Chili Peppers - "Under The Bridge" and "Soul To Squeeze" are favorites of mine. I also like the into to "Breaking The Girl." I own BloodSugarSexMagic and One Hot Minute and appreciate them. They make me think of summer and make me happy. I'm not into their new music.

Radiohead - OK Computer and The Bends are their best, no doubt about it, but even on those they have their weak moments as a band. Their obsessive fan following annoys me, and yet I understand the appeal.

Sigur Ros - Crap.

Bjork - Love her earlier albums, HATE Vespertine.

Belle And Sebastian - They put me to sleep. And not in a good way.

The Doves - Haven't heard them.

Clinic - Haven't heard them.

The White Stripes - Absolute crap.

Ozma - Haven't even heard of them.

Grandaddy - Have been meaning to download something.

Built To Spill - Incredibly overrated. There's not much to them.

Fountains of Wayne - I know I've heard some songs by them, but I forget.

Gin Blossoms - I always enjoyed the singles.

Foo Fighters - "Everlong" is a pretty good song. They don't interest me much, though.

Eels - I appreciate "Electroshock Blues" for being sweet as it is, but musically and lyrically, they suck.

Fugazi - Clever and fun. I like them a lot from what I've heard but from what I've seen a lot of their fans are complete snots.

Death By Pencil - Ha.

Pink Floyd - I like The Wall and Dark Side Of The Moon a lot when I'm in the mood. I haven't heard much else by them.

The Magnetic Fields - Have purposely not downloaded anything because from what I've heard, I feel they must be crappy.

Polaris - Haven't heard them.

REM - Good, classic, but wrote too much, and too much of their stuff sounds the same to me.

U2 - I love them sometimes, but often they still sound too much the same to me.

Exclamation

Led Zeppelin - One of the greatest rock acts of all time.

Rolling Stones - See above. I think they're a bunch of self-important blowhards now, but their achievements can't be denied.

Beatles - CANNOT STAND THEM! I don't care what anyone says...they're terrible.

Ramones - Most of their work sounds the same to me.

The Clash - One of my dad's favorites. That's all I can say.

Green Day - I have to be in the right mood to listen to them, but they're all right, generally.

Weezer - Mediocre.

Jimmy Eat World - What?

The Breeders - What??

The Pixies - What?!

The Strokes - WHAT??

Nirvana - A classic, to be sure, but I outgrew 'em.

Pearl Jam - Used to like, now hate. I think Vedder's voice just makes me want to shoot my radio. Haven't paid much attention to them since Five Against One.

The Smashing Pumpkins - Perfect balance of, well, almost everything that can be good musically. Can come off sounding immature at times, but they're are seriously an overrated band. Billy's voice is no more annoying than, say, SCOTT STAPP'S! http://www.netphoria.org/wwwboard/mad.gif

Red Hot Chili Peppers - Bleh. Their music just annoys the hell out of me. Give it away, give it away, give it away now!

Radiohead - My current favorite band. Cryptic lyrics and innovative sound. Planet Telex is probably my favorite song right now.

Sigur Ros - WHAT??!!

Bjork - She tries too hard to be weird, but she still makes some damn charming music.

Belle And Sebastian - I may get into them eventually...

The Doves - WHAT?????!!!!

Clinic - *breath* WHAT?!?!?!?!?!?!?!/

The White Stripes - WHAT???!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

Ozma - WHAT??!?!?!??!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

Grandaddy - WHAT?!?!?!?!?!??!??!$&*!@#$&!$&

Built To Spill - I bought Ancient Melodies of the Future, and only liked two songs off of it. That album made them sound like a cross between REM and Neutral Milk Hotel, neither of which I like much. I'm sure their older work is better, based on what you people have said here.

Fountains of Wayne - WHAT?!#$&@#$&@#$&*(@#&*($@#(&*$(@&#$(@&*#$(@*#&

Gin Blossoms - My sister likes 'em. That's pretty much all I know...but from what I've heard, they aren't that great.

Foo Fighters - Meh...a singles band if there ever was one.

Eels - WHAT?!@$!@#!@*($&*(!&%)(@#*%)&@#$%(&@#(*@&#$(&*@#$@(#&*$

Fugazi - WHAT?!@*&!$*(&#*($&@&*(&*(#$&*@#$&*@#$@#*&($@#&*$@#(

Death By Pencil - What?

Pink Floyd - They're just not for me.

The Magnetic Fields - What?

Polaris - What?

REM - Ok. Nothing special, but some of their songs are solid. Automatic For The People is a solid album.

U2 - A great band, still better than most...even if they have sold out a thousand times over. Pop is underrated, ATYCLB is overrated. Their best album is definitely Achtung Baby, and if you don't have it, you deserve to be beat.

It's true, it's true.

Led Zeppelin - wrote some great songs. good recordings. i think they had a very original sound for their time. i could be wrong though.

Rolling Stones - i've been liking them a lot more lately. but their output seems pretty erratic.

Beatles - a huge yes to john. no to a lot of paul. yes to george. ringo doesn't really matter.

Ramones - i like "I Wanna Be Sedated." that's about all i know.

The Clash - pretty damn good and interesting.

Green Day - writes consistently good pop rock. i even like a good deal of their lyrics. get shit on more than they should.

Weezer - writes inconsistently good pop rock. i loved pinkerton. green album i liked two or three songs. blue album i liked quite a bit of. cuomo deserves all the shit he gets.

Jimmy Eat World - suck. some ok pop songs, but they just scream suck to me.

The Breeders - not bad.

The Pixies - great. i like them a lot. it seems to me they got more popular in the later 90s than they were in the mid 90s and have continued to be spread word of mouth since. could just be my perception though.

The Strokes - the songwriting is pretty good. the recording's good. yeah.

Nirvana - i like a good deal of their output. overrated though? yes.

Pearl Jam - i don't care for most of their music, no.

The Smashing Pumpkins - heh.

Red Hot Chili Peppers - i like some stuff here and there. One Hot Minute i probably liked the best.

Radiohead - i really like pretty much everything from The Bends on. a band with good b-sides. heh.

Sigur Ros - pretty good. a bit boring sometimes though. i guess the fad is over though.

Bjork - i don't know. i like about half of Post. i like her videos a lot. i liked "Hidden Place."

Belle And Sebastian - suck.

The Doves - not bad.

Clinic - i like them.

The White Stripes - i like them a lot. the gritty recording and raw sound seems to put off a lot of people though.

Ozma - subpar pop-rock.

Grandaddy - nice.

Built To Spill - i like them.

Fountains of Wayne - i like them.

Gin Blossoms - no.

Foo Fighters - i like a few songs.

Eels - hmm. i'm not too well-versed in their catalog. a few songs i really like. the rest i'm not too familiar with.

Fugazi - so far i've only heard "Repeater" and i like that one. i'll probably check out more soon.

Death By Penci - hah. no.

Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon is one of the top records of all time. i thought The Wall was pretty inconsistent though. the other albums i'm not too familiar with.

The Magnetic Fields - good lyrics, but their recording quality sure is offputting.

Polaris - *shrug*

REM - yeah. especially in the 80s.

U2 - don't like very much of their music. a few songs here and there.

Basing your BTS opinion on Ancient Melodies is like basing your opinion of the Pumpkins on Machina. Go get Keep It Like a Secret or Perfect From Now On.

Led Zeppelin ***1/2 Good but I don't see what the big deal is.
Rolling Stones I haven't really gotten enough into their music to judge.
Beatles ***** I think they are the best band ever.
Ramones ***1/2 They're good, simple, punk rock.
The Clash I don't know them well enough, truth be told. That said about the Ramones, I avoid most punk rock.
Green Day *** They're pretty good at what they do best.
Weezer ***1/2 hit and miss with me, I think. Mostly hit.
Jimmy Eat World Don't know anything but their radio material.
The Breeders Haven't gotten into them.
The Pixies Haven't gotten into them much, but I've liked what little I've heard.
The Strokes **1/2 a clear and present rip-off of 70s punk bands. Still, not all bad.
Nirvana ***1/2 They were good. One of the only bands I would actually invoke the term
"overrated", but still good.
Pearl Jam ***1/2 A solid band.
The Smashing Pumpkins ****1/2 Excellent. Deduct 1/2 star for some of the excesses.
Red Hot Chili Peppers *** They're alright, I guess.
Radiohead ***** The best group I've heard recently.
Sigur Ros ***1/2 Some excellent sounds and ambience, but can get boring sometimes.
Bjork ****1/2 Excellent
Belle And Sebastian no opinion
The Doves no opinion
Clinic no opinion
The White Stripes no opinion
Ozma no opinion
Grandaddy no opinion
Built To Spill no opinion
Fountains of Wayne no opinion
Gin Blossoms no opinion
Foo Fighters *** I like "Colour and the Shape"
Eels no opinion
Fugazi no opinion
Death By Penci no opinion
Pink Floyd ****1/2 Excellent, and generally stays interesting.
The Magnetic Fields no opinion
Polaris no opinion
REM ****1/2 Pretty consistent in quality and quite good.
U2 ****1/2 Love them. Sue me.

Led Zeppelin- can't get into 'em? don't like em? then i really don't know what's wrong with you. you can NOT possibly like any of the below bands if you can't dig zep.

Beatles- more than just musicians, great songwriters.

Ramones- catchy as all hell.

Green Day- were good when i was full of 12 yr old pre pubesant angst. sound wise anyway.

Weezer- good or bad they have thier own funk. i generally like.

Jimmy Eat World- most of you bone heads here are BASING YOUR OPINIONS ON THE MIDDLE, which does NOT capture how they really sound at all. they are better than that, and yes, they are a good listen.

The Breeders- thumbs up.

The Pixies- werd.

The Strokes- cathy songs. even more fun to listen to when you're drunk.

Nirvana- unplugged was thier showcase, it was how they were meant to sound.

Pearl Jam- good stuff.

The Smashing Pumpkins- not a record by them have dissapointed me. all good songs, every last one. they've been uhmming in my head for 6 yeas now, not a whole lot of music has hit me that hard.

Red Hot Chili Peppers- aces. good musicians, good funk, yo.

Radiohead- amazeing. 2nd favorite. never get old to me, not a dissapointing record (pablo honey was aight, amnesiac grw on me slowly and i can't stop listening to it now.)

Bjork- gorgeous. prod

The White Stripes- i think the singer has a good voice, good guitar playing. drumming is gay.

Fountains of Wayne- energy! from what i remember. i have thier records but haven't played 'em in a couple years.

Gin Blossoms- still being played on my local radio station.

Foo Fighters- they got it right with everlong. (is that even the right title?)

Eels- werd.

Fugazi- woah.

Death By Pencil- only heard pug.

Pink Floyd- same comment as zep. great.

REM- e-bow the letter tis my fav song.

U2- i did like bautiful day. thier older stuff=much better. they are cocky as all hell though, and that bugs me.

I would, but I've found that having an internet connection of my own only keeps me hooked to a computer at night, rather than doing stuff I'd rather be doing, such as reading, studying, or working.

As a result of my internet addiction, I refuse to have an internet connection in my dorm room (despite having access to a high-speed network), and instead use public computers. Trust me: losing the internet was the best thing that ever happened to me. http://www.netphoria.org/wwwboard/smile.gif
