everything was fine
i was scrolling netphoria this morning, everything was fine.
then, with me doing literally nothing else except being on netphoria, my laptop keyboard started acting funny. the arrows started getting fucked, up became down, down became up. pages started jumping around. i didn't make much of it, until i found out a couple of minutes later that none of the vowels work anymore, plus some other letters, and i basically can't use my computer now. posting this through a terrible, sticky keyed USB keyboard that happens to be lying around at the place i'm currently subletting. 95% sure it's a virus/trojan/malware thing. it's too specifically designed to fuck with me to be random hardware failure. this will be the second time i need to wipe my entire pc because of this fucking shithole. fuck this place. just fuck it. |

it'll mean i'll have to buy a new laptop. this one is barely over a year old. i'm hoping it's some sophisticated malware that fucks with the integrated keyboard of laptops, blocking some signals or whatever, i dunno. and perhaps a usb input overrides that. i'm now backing everything up and will do a complete bleache format and reinstall of windows. if that doesn't help i'm... gonna be mad i guess. |

I've been on this site for a few years now and have never had any harm done to my laptop
I have random keys that don't work on this thing anymore because it's old and I've knocked liquids onto it countless times while grooving |

What brand of laptop is it? I've dropped a Lenovo from a second story balcony and it barely got a scratch. It was open too. Highly recommended.

Now you can justify buying the Oakley wraparound MP3 player you've always wanted.

My iPod Classic recently stopped working. Sound only came out of one earphone. At first, I thought it was the earphones, but I tried them with other devices, as well as tried other earphones with the iPod, and it was the iPod that was fucked.
When I went to see about getting it repaired or replaced at the Apple Store, they told me it'd be over $400 because they aren't being manufactured anymore. No way I'd spend that kind of money. A lot of people are selling them on eBay for around that price, but I was able to find one that was going for about what I paid for a new one when they were still being made. And this one was like new anyway because the owner barely used it (no scratches or wear or nothing). But still, no digital device works forever, and I'm kind of worried about how there are few alternatives to the iPod Classic on the market, where it comes to prioritizing disk space over other functions. |

Couldn't you just put a high capacity SD card in a cellphone and use that?

HI GUYS I'M BACK
ok so my keyboard actually got fucked for literally no reason. i wasn't doing anything except scrolling text on a website when it shat out on me. i was mentally prepared to go buy a new laptop, but i found this super nice old guy who has a shop like an hour away from where i live. went over, they replaced my keyboard to a brand new one, taking apart the entire computer in the process. set me back like 100$, but it's really nothing compared to the kind of money i thought i would be required to throw down. also, my previous was white, and this one's black - **** to thread. all in all, can't complain. and next week - on a plane. lik if u cri everytim. |

i've replaced a couple of laptop keyboards and screens in my time. usually they're easy. i prob wouldn't try installing much else myself, even though i could i'd be afraid of breaking something because i have a heavy hand. my current laptop, for they keyboard you don't even have to take the case apart and there's no screws. it snaps in really easy and you only need something thin like a guitar pic to get the old one up. a couple of keys were getting sticky and i found a replacement keyboard for $15 so i got it. doesn't have backlight like my old one but i've never used it anyway.
in fact, i don't think i've ever had to take a laptop apart for a keyboard replacement. usually there's some kind of gasket and then it's held in by screws that you can get to easily. |

i have a Toshiba laptop, and with my particular model it seems like they designed the keyboard repair\modifying of any kind to be truly infuriatingly dumb and difficult, probably to make repair more expensive and thus more profitable to them. with any other laptop keyboard i know of, you could pop keys right off, clean them, use an air spray, whatever. with this computer, i had one key come off by accident - and i was told it's irreplacable, unless i replace the entire keyboard (which i now had to do - i passed on it back then though, opting to remain with a missing key). one time i even had a bottle of beer spill on a dell laptop, and it wasn't nearly as much hassle getting it back to normal as it was with my current one. |
