Shaun of the Dead - A+, really just a well-balanced movie. Didn't expect to care about the characters, but it had me by the end

Pan's Labyrinth - C, was expecting more of the fantasy stuff, and not a WWII drama...felt like they needed to pick one and go with it. The captain guy was an excellent actor, though.

Ju-on: The Grudge - C, way better than the American version, but still not great, IMO

The war is mentioned a grand total of one time in the movie. It's about the Spanish Civil War, not WWII, ya numbnuts.

good cop bon cop - should just come with a disclaimer saying "warning, contains embarrasing parts that cram canadiana in your face, cringe and forget they happen"... otherwise good and worth seeing
paradise now - great acting, reallllly slow paced though
shortbus - gets props for actually testing taste/porn limits and then not completley sucking. thought it at least had a good original story in there but was lost in bad/overly arty directing/acting... turned my gf on so thats good... still might as well get porn
knocked up - classic, wayyyyy better than 40 yr old virgin... not convincing enough that she would give him the time of day though
talladega nights - awesome, pretty much impossible to walk away from without at least 10 quotes you will repeat later on

Well, I really meant more the time period...I'm not up on my Spanish history and when I heard them make reference to Normandy, I just assumed. My bad. Anyhow, it's still a war-drama more than it is a fantasy movie, and not really what I expected

blood and chocolate - c good beat off material when in the vampy mood
breach - c entertaining
higher learning - b because it hasnt age well and is so bad its entertaining
notes on a scandal - b i enjoyed it
primal fear - c richard gere is so bad but edward nortypants is pretty good in it

I thought this was pretty meh. The only scene that stands out to me is when he plays that Wreckless Eric song for the girl and then they do it. That part was tender. The rest of the movie was just okay.

But it reminds me that I saw Running With Scissors not too long ago, too. Wow, either I had too high of expectations or that movie really was as bad as I thought... It was competent but just... Not very good. Seemed like it tried too hard. C-
